| SolenVlos04-08-05, 12:04 AM | simple question can I enchant each head of the nunchaku with diferent enchantments, flamming and frosting, for instance? I'm not looking for stacking this abilities, nor thinking that the nunchaku may work as a double weapon, but the thinking is, as one hit the enemy with both "heads", can this heads be diferents? why and why not? maybe you could pay separatedly. it would be 2 times more expensive, but I think it would be pretty darn cool, having a +2 flamming, +1 shocking brust nunchaku. |
| Woodland Shadow04-08-05, 12:33 AM | Oddly this idea popped in my head earlier. The answer is no. It's not technically a double weapon by the weapons rules and as such can't be enchanted in such a way. Doesnt make sense I know but the rules are the rules. |
| Lord Gwydion04-08-05, 12:59 AM | The three-section-staff (from OA) could be enchanted in that manner, however. |
| Santrilla04-08-05, 05:49 AM | As could a quarterstaff. |
| SolenVlos04-08-05, 10:33 AM | but it works like a double weapon. you can use it with two hand and hit with interchanging head, canīt you? |
| Santrilla04-08-05, 10:50 AM | Be that as it may, the rules list it as a single weapon, with damage 1d6. If the rules listed it as a double weapon, with perhaps damage 1d6/1d6, you could enchant both ends. But you can't, because it's a single weapon. Rules override common sense 99% of the time. |
| tarkin04-08-05, 11:01 AM | Could you enchant the LEFT side of a Sword with Frost and the RIGHT side of a sword with Flaming? Same idea. The rules as written do not allow for that. However.... New Magic Item property: Fire and Frost: Upon command, a Fire and Frost weapon is sheathed in your choice of icy cold or flame (two different command words). The cold /heat does not harm the wielder. The effect remains until another command is given. A fire and frost weapon deals an extra 1d5 points of damage (use a d10, if over 5, subtract 5) on a successful hit. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the cold energy upon their ammunition. Note, this enchantment does not stack with either Flaming or Frost. Moderate evocation; CL 8th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Chill metal and Heat Metal; Price +1 bonus. ---------------- Or make it a +2 enchantment and have damage done be +1d10. |
| Vahenir04-08-05, 11:08 AM | By the RAW.. you cannot. However, you may want to bring up the possibility of a houserule to your DM. Ask him to allow you to place a different enhancement on each 'end' of a nunchaku - and agree to follow the rule that in order to change what 'end' you're attacking with you must take a Move-equivalent Action. Seems fair and reasonable. But keep in mind it would be a houserule, so your DM may veto that idea. |

That's basically the equivalent of having two seperate enchantments on a weapon, each with a different command word. So to activate the fire 'end', you'd deactivate the cold 'end'. |
| Vahenir04-10-05, 09:30 AM | Basically. |
| K_Man04-10-05, 02:03 PM | Reminds me of my double-bladed sword I used for a very brief high level campaign. +3 Flaming on one side, and +3 Frost on the other. I named it....wait for it...."Thermos." |
| Bopple04-10-05, 10:40 PM | Energy Aura ability [Arms & Equipment Guide] is the closest thing among official materials. But I'd rather have a simple flaming, frost, shocking weapon, if I wanted such kind of elemental energy weapon. |
