Like I have +3 Melee attack VS my ennemy got a +5 Melee attakck. I attack and my ennemy try to block my strike. I roll 13, I add my +3 for a sum of 16. My ennemy roll a 9 for a sum of 14. Since I've got a better roll, I hit him. So, in this system, the Armor play a Damage Reduction roll. Do they have a system like that in a sourcebook ? If so, may I ask what happen if someone try a ranged attack if there is no AC concept ? Or if I have an counterstrike option that I want to use....I attack my ennemy and he doesn't want to block my attack but only to counterstrike in the same time that I attack ....what will tell me that I succed a ranged or a counterstrike attack if there is no AC concept ? Can you proposed me an optional combat rule for that ? |

This variant favours the participant with the higher bonus (more than the default system). If you actually want "opposed checks, higher hits" then you introduce a new mechanical issue: making an attack could possibly be a negative action. Currently, the worst result from a normal attack in normal circumstances is that nothing happens. If, however, you can be reactively damaged when attacking then it can be better to do nothing than to attack, especially if the opponent is "better" than you. It also has the net effect that, typically, the better combatant will do not only their full damage on their own round but also when others attack them. |
