As a 5th level Rogue, I could go w/ TWF & Ambidexterity or take Dodge & Mobility in anticipation for Spring Attack. I'll have a decent Tumble skill (4 ranks + 5 for dex = 9). Any opinions on what to do? :)

Depends. If you want to maximize your potential damage output, TWF is clearly the superior option (by a VERY large margin). But, it's a lot more dangerous so should only be pursued if you have a good Con and other defenses.

If you're more fragile (i.e. you haven't put significant resources into being durable) then the Spring Attack route is a better choice, since you won't be able to survive standing next to enemies to make your full attacks.

You might consider Improved Initiative, Point Blank & Rapid Shot. Maximize your SA damage early in the fight, /and/ stay out of trouble.

As is, I have a +7 to AC (+2 for leather and +5 for Dex) and a 12 Con (+1 modifier). Think that is too fragile?

That would depend on your campaign. If a full attack from a monster will most likely kill you in a single round, then you're fragile enough that you won't want to get into melee combat long enough that they can launch a full round attack on you.

If you can survive for a round, it's a risk. Hopefully you'll be able to either retreat or finish it off in the second round. If you can survive for a few rounds, then it's probably worth getting into melee, because the damage you'll be able to deal is just punishing.

It gets even worse if you start using crippling strike and wounding weapons. 2 strength damage, 1 con damage, and buttloads of d6 sneak attack damage each hit. It adds up fast.

Wasn't Ambidexterity removed in 3.5? You could just go TWF and then maybe Dodge, or try to see if you can get Improved Feint. That feat works wonders for rogues.

We're running 3.0, no accesory handbooks.

Rogues I generally go with improved initiative at first level and then pick up weapon finesse at 3rd level. If you want to go 3.0 two weapon build, I'd suggest picking up some levels of fighter or ranger, or play a human for the extra feat. As a bonus you will have more hitpoints that way, otherwise a d6 HD with only a +1 con bonus is going to mean you will have a dangerous time in melee trying to get that full attack.

Or....you should pick the combination that best suits your character and/or adventuring group. It isn't all about numbers. Your DM will tone down your opponents if your character is more concerned with his character rather than his staying power in a fight.

i agree with Tony Vargas...

you should be careful with taking a rogue into direct combat.

generally, thay cannot do adequate damage to risk keeping them in the front line. use their special abilities to the best advantage.

otherwise, maybe take some levels of ranger first, to make him more hearty, then go into rogue.

combat expertise, improved feint

feinting is more effective than TWF for rogues in my opionion. its easier to just bluff them into a sneak attack, than to hope and pray that your fighter has enough free time to flank with you.

I just made a 5th lvl rogue last night. He was human and took a flaw from UA to get a bonus feat, so he has four feats total. He has Two Weapon Fighting, Combat Expertise, Improved Feint, and Weapon Finesse. I put his second best stat into Con so he can have some decent hitpoints. (Third best into Int)

If he flanks with the fighter, he can use the two weopen fighting. If not, he can try to Feint it and still get a sneak attack. Its pretty effective, as long as he keeps away when he knows he should.
