I have some questions of combat modifiers that I can't find the answer to in the books I have:

(Both on p. 151 in PHB)

1.
When on a horse, are you "On higher ground" when attacking someone that stands on the ground, so you'll get the +1 bonus as for melee weapons ?

2.
When you're helpless (bound, paralyzed, sleeping) you get a -4 pentaly on AC. It's also says that you're dex are treated as 0 (-5 modifier). In my head this will make a total of -9.

Coments?

1. From the SRD, Combat, Combat While Mounted section:
When you attack a creature smaller than your mount that is on foot, you get the +1 bonus on melee attacks for being on higher ground.

So generally yes, but not against something the size of your horse

2.
Correct, -9
