| CheetahF1401-28-07, 10:28 PM | This will be the 5th time I've DM a game so I wanted to do something different. I decided to have the PCs fight pirates on open waters but I have only one problem. I have no idea how to work ship to ship combat! Stuff like: the ships hp, the damage die of a ballista or cannon, or even how to work in boarding parties and knocking down the main mast. Can anyone give me a starting point? I would really be thankfull! |

Plus, the whole "high seas" thing adds a 3D dimension to the game (think you have a handle on the Sahuagin attackers? Guess what, three are coming through the ship's hull). |

I think my biggest problem with ships, sailing, shipping, pirates, privateers, etc. in D&D is that it's so trivial to use magic to sink a ship that I can't imagine shipping happens very much, or that "traditional" pirate-like campaigns can happen in a straight D&D campaign. |
