| hmk1705-18-06, 01:11 PM | I've been toying with the idea of swordsman weaponsmith for awhile. I wanted him to have interesting weapons and be able to craft them for others. I'm attracted to the idea of the Advent Children sword where 5 swords combine into one. The fundamentals of hooking everything together are easy. It should not be a problem for that character to craft interlocking swords. It's trying to think of how to get any enchantments to stack together along with the the metals. Adding to that, its also figuring out what a modest combined damage would be. Here is the base model so far. Base Sword - Mastercraft Admantine Great Sword Second Sword - Mastercraft Cold Iron Long Sword Third Sword - Mastercraft Silver Long Sword Fourth Sword - Mastercraft Silver Short Sword Fifth Sword - Mastercraft Cold Iron Short Sword |

Give me a second and I'll dig it up, it'll probably work the same way, without getting too AC fanboyish. |
| Necropolitan05-18-06, 01:18 PM | Here we go, Morphing enchantment. Morphing. As a standard Action, the wielder may change the weapon to any other weapon within the same size catagoery (I.E. A Morphing Shortsword could become a Lightblade). If a double weapon is created, only one end has the enhacnement bonus, the other end is considered mastertwork. Underdark, Page 69, +1 Bonus. |
| Fanged Fremont05-18-06, 01:35 PM | could this morphing quality turn a greatsword into say... a barstool? It's a weapon, sure it's improvised, but a weapon non the less. |

Come to think of it, a Barstool is a Medium weapon, and I think a +2 Adamantine Greater Wounding Barstool would hurt like hell. Oooh! Daggers and broken beer bottles! |
| xrp3_robot05-18-06, 02:05 PM | Is there an enchantment that allows weapons to change size? I think that there was one that that allowed one to change the metal of the weapon. ie. Admantine into Cold Iron. |
| Necropolitan05-18-06, 02:14 PM | Is there an enchantment that allows weapons to change size? Not sure but I'll check, but there is the Metalline enchantment, which allows you to change the metal. Change it to Thorium, bammo, x2 Strength Modifier. Ahah, here we go, Sizing. Sizing A weapon's size catagoery can be changed by one step as a standard Action (I.E. A Medium Longsword could become a Large Longsword) +1 Bonus, Complete Adventurer Page 167, or Underdark, Page 69. |
| xrp3_robot05-18-06, 02:25 PM | You know with Sizing and Morphing, one can make anything he/she needed. |
| Necropolitan05-18-06, 02:29 PM | You know with Sizing and Morphing, one can make anything he/she needed. Quite so. So to the OP, to make Cloud's multisword, just create a +1 Sizing Morphing Greatsword. Bammo. |
| DarkonWolf05-18-06, 02:29 PM | It looks like everyone so far has missed the point of hmk17's concept. I for one like the idea, being a fan of Advent Children myself. During the fights having multiple swords interlocked together also had a nice advantage of Cloud having the ability to just diconnect one of the second swords in the middle of combat and go from a single weapon to wielding two weapons. |

During the fights having multiple swords interlocked together also had a nice advantage of Cloud having the ability to just diconnect one of the second swords in the middle of combat and go from a single weapon to wielding two weapons. We're all aware of that, but I'm also aware of how much of a pain in the ass it will be trying to build that with balenced rulesets; I myself would treat seperating the weapons as a Move-Action, same a drawing a weapon, so to use it effectivly he'd need quick draw. Moreover, let's consider the WEIGHT on something like that, a Normal Greatsword weighs about 8lbs total, but doign this you'd include basically, five different weapons of normal weight, more then quadrupling the weight of the traditional greatsword in D20. That would be a royal pain in the ass to carry around. Also, let's take the Sunder rules into account; since they're locked together; you could feasbly sunder each weapon indivudally, and hack his sword apart bit by bit, since a Smaller blade like a Longsword has less HP then a solid Greatsword, so does a Short Sword, etc. My ruling personally, is to build a varient of the Morphing enchantment that performs like a 3.5 soulknife's Shape Mindblade ability, you can replicate however many weapons, butr they only halve or 3rd the bonus between them (I.E. for the +4 Multisword, if he split it into two Ala cloud, he'd have two +2 weapons, not two +4) It'd be easier then desgining special rules for a mundane weapon, trust me on this. |
| Jay_Ibero_91105-18-06, 10:08 PM | Actually, sizing wouldn't be too useful in this case. For instance, if you had a medium sized +1 Sizing Morphing greatsword, you could use the sizing ability decrease it's size to a small greatsword, but a greatsword is still a two-handed weapon, so you would still only be able to morph it into other 2 handed weapons, and unless you changed size to become small as well, you'd take the -2 penalty to attack rolls for wielding an innapropriately sized weapon. I suppose you could houserule that if you made the weapon smaller you could morph it into other categories of weapons though... |
