Does this mean that he could hold two Sai's, one in each hand, attack with his flurry of blows attacks and then with his Sai's, or does he have to sacrifice one or more of his unarmed strikes?
Neopopulas 12-11-04, 10:36 AM	Its more an Either-or thing. As an example, lets say you have a eighth level monk. With a BAB of +6/+1 and a Flurry of +5/+5/+0. Now, this monk could attack at either his Base Attack Bonus with his Sai (or two, and suffer the penalties for Two Weapon Fighting) at +6/+1. OR he can forego the attacks with the Sai (or two) and instead make a Flurry of Blows with his feet, elbows, head, knees, should, whatever at +5/+5/+0. In this case you could be giving up your two BAB attacks at +6/+1 and instead gaining three attacks with your Flurry at +5/+5/+0 unarmed
Pinky's brain 12-11-04, 12:33 PM	Hmmm? All monk weapons can be used inside a flurry, you can pick and choose between unarmed strikes and monk weapons on the fly. Hell according to the official FAQ he could even use TWF with monk weapons inside the flurry. To answer the original question though, no you dont get additional weapon attacks when you dont use them inside the flurry. You can get additional natural attacks if you happen to have them though.

Azarias 12-12-04, 07:21 AM	If you check the latest 3.5 errata, you'll find that a lot of it is devoted to exactly these issues. Basically, (1) You can make flurry attacks only with the special monk weapons (unarmed attacks, sais, shuriken, whatever; but note the shuriken bit); (2) If your PC has a natural attack (warforged, centaur, whatever), you can make your natural attack(s) in addition to the flurry: however, they gain no flurry or monk special qualities, and become secondary natural attacks (which means 0.5 str bonus and a -5 to the natural attacks only); (3) You can never use weapons other than special monk weapons in a flurry, or in addition to a flurry, and (4) you can use TWF, GTWF etc with a flurry, provided you're using special monk weapons. Including shuriken. The only fuzzy area left is whether you can use natural weapon feats and powers for monk unarmed attacks. This is still a grey area, and best left to DMs adjudication for the time being.
