Improved trip allows you to make a melee attack as if you hadn't made the tripping attack if you are successful. Disarm is a melee attack (not a standard or full round action). So, if you trip someone, can you use the "free" attack after the trip to attempt to disarm them (and they will be at -4 because they are prone... disarm is an opposed attack roll)?

you got it. the trip-disarm is a solid, established combat trick. its also really good for preserving loot.

also a good trick for fighter/monks. *trip**disarm* now I'M using your sword!

And with the Combat Brute feat, you can sunder, trip, and disarm. :D

Keep in mind you get a +4 bonus for attacking a prone target as well.

Acctualy you canīt sunder there because sunder is an "stantard-action", not an "attack like action", and Iīm not suro if the +4 and the -4 bonus/penalty applies to the opposed check made to disarm you opponent.
The sage says that these modfic. applies to all kinds of attacks (I am assuming that, based on the Grog & Bob situation in the grapple/trip).
My opinion... anyone in the prone position is in disvantage, so I would apply the mods.

Actually, I'm fairly certain that you can sunder on any attack, including attacks of opportunity. Considering that you can trip, disarm or the like on special attacks like this, I don't think there's any reason for sunder to not follow the same rules.

Mmm... all the more reason to make sure I squeeze both into the hexblade I've been fiddling with. Though I really dislike the trippable reach weapons... something about 2d4 just feels bad, even though it's marginally superior to 1d8. I guess I just want the 1d10. (Plus the official art on the guisarme is ugly as hell.)

As far as Sunder, I see in the SRD "a melee attack", not "a standard action". Meaning that with Combat Brute, you could in fact combine Sundering Cleave (say, targetting the shield), with Improved Trip and then Improved Disarm. In one attack you would deal no damage to the enemy, but assuming full success, be faced with a prone, disarmed, shieldless opponent. That would mean subsequent attacks that round, assuming that you had them, would effectively be at +6 or better, depending on how much AC the shield provided. And the enemy would need two move actions to get back to normal combat situation (aside from the destroyed shield).
