What is the Tome of Ancient Knowledge?
What is the Tome of the Stilled Tongue?
What does the Chromatic Rod do? You know, the rod that has the heads of all 5 chromatic dragons on it.

My DM said he'd admit if we'll come across any of them, if I found out on the board what they were.

So you're asking for complete information from copyrighted, non-OGC material because your DM won't let you see his book and he won't tell you what an item is when your characters find it unless that players can recognize it by sight?

No can do. And that's rather creepy reasoning on his part.

Creepy indeed especially when you consider that Complete Divine is a Players Guide.

The Tome of Ancient Knowledge is basically a wizards wet dream, Boccob's (the god of magic) spellbook.
The Tome of the Stilled Tongue is basically Vecna's spellbook, with some other neat bonuses for wizards thrown in.
The Chromatic Rod is a neat little morningstar with some nifty powers.

Keep in mind that these are all "Relics" which require either a feat (and 9 through 13HD) or the sacrifice of a 5th through 7th level spell to use.

require a feat to use? that sucks, but if it's Boccob's spellbook, then..hell, seems like a beyond fair trade..

You either sacrifice a divine spell slot, or get a feat with a low powered bonus, on the up side, relics aren't that expensive, only 22,000 for a 6 bonus to wis, and a few other bonuses. SUre the feat or spell slot hurts, and you must worship a certain diety, but the bonuses are damn nice for the price.

22k for a +6 bonus to wisdom?

You best read that again.
