Can someone explain to me why the fullblade is so great??? It is a huge weapon, to be a medium weapon, it drops 2 damage catagories and if you don't do that you take a -4 penalty to using it., and the bladed gauntlet bumps up by two damage catagories. I know it is a 3.0 book so is there new rules for all the equipment inside??

Its big, so all the anime fanpeople are in love with it so they can make their Zabuza, Cloud, Gatsu, ect clones.

It has decent damage dice, but its not worth it in the end.

As a DM, I let anyone who wants one use it, but I warn them that they better not expect me to drop magic ones as treasure or throw some in shops any time soon. So they're only screwing themselves in the end.

I say, be creative, play original characters. But still what's up with the damage dice with the weapons?? how does one convert this to 3.5?

I thought the fullblade is merely a fancy large greatsword?

Anyway, like mercurial weapons they have gone the way of the Dodo (thank god).

I don't want to use a greatsword, all I want to know is how to make the damage dice transfer to 3.5, thats it, I no longer want to know about the Fullblade, I understand that it is just for people that seem not to feel that they should play something orginal, or something with depth. Cloud, as cool as the game was, has no depth in anyother thing than the game, and possibly the movie, keep him there, no more cameos, no more "I wanna play cloud/sephiroth cuz is kewl and uber pwn face master!" Seriously, I like my idea for the hellbred thing (Hellbred Paladin Saint), I know it's been done before, but not often, and much much cooler than playing videogame characters in a pen and paper format. Said and Done.

Woo, sorry about that, I was a tad perterbed. I know that didn't pertain to the last comment much, but I had to get it off my chest.

If memory serves me correct (which it often times doesn't), its statisticly a Large Bastard Sword.

For 3.5 weapon sizes it's a large weapon with the property that it can be wielded by a medium creature if they have the EWP (see the FAQ).

I do believe you're right. Since 3.5 introduced weapon sizes, the fullblade has become non-existant/redundant, since it's only a bastard sword for a Large creature. No need for a special name for it.

And I agree that the popularity of it is because a lot of people love oversized weapons.

But I do think it does sound better.

Great sword - Greeeaaaat!

Fullblade - sounds... meaty?...

Actually, there's a slight mechanical difference. EWP (bastard sword) let's you wield a bastard sword designed for your size one-handed, you then have the question of whether this means you can wield a large bastard sword 2-handed at a -2 penalty for being an inappropriately sized weapon. The FAQ says you can't, that you treat the weapons as 2-handed martial weapons for the purposes of sizing (although I know many will dispute this ruling).

However, the fullblade does the exact same damage and can definitely be wielded (2-handed) with the EWP and you also don't suffer any -2 penalty for the inappropriately sized weapon.

Yes that's correct, now to eliminate that, you have to drop the damage die by one catagory, my question still remains, is that how it translates into 3.5??

I'd have to double check, I think it depends on which version you use.

-The "exotic weapon proficiency: bastard sword" feat allows you to wield a medium bastard sword in one hand (but not a large one in two-hands)
-The "exotic weapon proficiency: full-blade" feat allows a medium creature to wield a large two-handed weapon (the fullblade) in two-hands (but would presumably not allow a large creature wield it one handed).

i.e. two feats are similar, but entirely different.

Actually, I think that EWP (fullblade) does allow a large creature to wield it one-handed.

I have to check that and the -2 thing but I'm away from books. I seem to recall that the S&F version required monkey grip, which would be the -2 thing, but the (more recent) AEG version just uses the EWP and, if memory serves, didn't have a -2 penalty.

Not quite. The Fullblade is, technically, a Large ONE-HANDED weapon(being a Bastard Sword). Any human or medium creature can weild it in Two hands by taking the -2 inappropriatley sized weapon penalty(on top of the -4 non-proficiency penalty). The Exotic Weapon (Fullblade) feat would eliminate the non-proficiency penalty and should eliminate the size penalty as well, considering(it's one one step up from a greatsword in damage, so I don't see a problem with it, Exotic wise).

No, it's a large 2 handed weapon. In 3.0 it was size huge which would make it a 2-hander for a large creature.

Err.... ok.... yeah, according to the FAQ it's just listed as a "lLarge twohanded
weapon with a special rule that allows a Medium creature to wield it with two hands."

I'm trying to figure out where I got the large bastad sword part from... at any rate, you're right.
