I mean, does it only apply when a monster tries to damage someone in a grapple as a +1d6 damage, or does it apply to EVERY succesful opposed grapple check, like when the victim tries to escape and fails?

Constrict

A creature with this special attack can crush an opponent, dealing bludgeoning damage, after making a successful grapple check. The amount of damage is given in the creature’s entry. If the creature also has the improved grab ability it deals constriction damage in addition to damage dealt by the weapon used to grab.

Minor emphasis. Must make a successful grapple check, and deals the listed damage after EACH successful grapple check.

09-21-06, 09:57 AM ah, but does that count the ones that the victim fails on his turn?, meaning if he tries to escape and the ex. Otyugh succeds in holding him?

Or does it mean that it only does 1d6 damage after it has succeded with a opposed grapple check on his turn?
