Construct to help on magic item creation [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-21-05, 01:38 PM I remember seeing a small construct that aided in the creation of magic items i beleive the cost was somewhere around 10,000g and you cast the spells on the first day then it finished the item for you so you could adventure but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw this thing any ideas??

05-21-05, 02:26 PM i think that's the homunculous (spelling may be a little off)

Oh, and i believe it's in the Monster Manual.

05-21-05, 02:29 PM It not that there were like 3 different versions of this construct 1 was a bladed construct 1 helped build magic items and I forget what the 3rd did but I can't remember what book it was in.

05-21-05, 02:32 PM Maybe you're thinking of the construct familiars out of Complete Arcane. There was a tiny, small, and medium (I think) familiar towards the back of the book. I don't have it with me, so I can't be certain. But one of them had some bladed hands, one had these big Popeye forarms/fists, and the other one was some kind of bird-thing... or something.

05-21-05, 02:57 PM Oh, and I know why now. It's NOT Complete Arcane! It's Complete Warrior! They're combat familiars technially. Check in there. Yeah, I'm positive now, it's definately in Complete Warrior.

05-21-05, 05:22 PM pg 118 Gaurdian Familiars if anyone is interested. but still not the one I am looking for man this is driving me nuts ... I thought it was a great idea when I read it and completely forgot where it was.... if anyone else has any ideas please help.

05-21-05, 06:08 PM Your looking for a homonculous in the Eberron book called the Dedicated Wright. Basically you spend the gold and xp to build an item (that you're qualified to build) and the Wright spends the time needed to build it.

As soon as my Artificer could build a Wright, I built one and set it to building others until I had a half dozen of them toiling away inside a portable hole. Makes expendable item crafting a lot nicer (wands/staffs/scrolls).
