Could a divine caster use that item to set a contingent divine spell on himself that way? And for 4th lvl spells, would the caster lvl of the item crafter need to be 12, making the item in this case 28,800? (Contingency lvl 6 X caster lvl 12 X 2000 gp / 5 (1 use/day)). |

A ring of Spell Storing holds upto 5 level of spells and activates as a standard action, not "automatically". It costs 50,000 gp. I would definitely include a "premium cost" for what you are describing. It sounds like it is worth more than the ring of spell storing to me. ---- The major problem is your "1/day limitation". You only get a price reduction if your limitation is a real limitation. A limit of "This Continual light stone does not work when exposed to sunlight" gets NO price reduction. The spell Contigency has a duration of days, and you can not have more than one up normally. Your 1/day limitation is a joke, not a real limitaiton, you should not get a reduction of 80% for using it. Why, I could pass it around to all my spell casting friends, each day getting a new contigency on them. If you were to redo your item so that: 1) It takes one full day of wearing the ring before you can use the ring. 2) removing the ring cancels the contigency currently activated. 3) The ring is useable 1/WEEK, not 1/day. Then your price of 28,800 gp seems reasonable to me. |
