Snap rings= magical little clay tags with a metal wire string attached, the character loops the wire around an object, then the character snaps the clay tag in two and poof the item gets teleported to a designated spot.

this item was created for an archeological dig the party was exploring, there were very nasty baddies among the ruins, but the local university was very interested in the artifacts in the ruins, so the party ran around doing the snap and pop while being harrassed by the baddies.

Interesting, very interesting.

May I suggest basing the effect and pricing round Teleport Object - OK, it's higher level than Teleport but I feel the spell is more appropriate. Also, it stops the item being used to kidnap fair maidens or teleport the BBEG into a prison... Unless, of course, that's the entire point :)

Using Teleport Object as a basis, the wonderous item would be 4550GP for effectively a potion of teleport object (As in it works just like a potion/oil. and is costed the same - Single use, Use activated).

I'd probably add in that the destination is set at creation - makes more sense than Bob The Barbarian slapping one on a bit of loot and having to worry about the issues of targetting it. Also it's contingent with your "Teleport to central storehouse" premise, each item set to a specific area big enough to hold the maximum capacity of the spell to avoid telefragging accidents.
