| Lionheart42908-02-05, 04:42 AM | Hey, I thought it might be cool to have everyone post their favorite weapon and the stats for it. Maybe we can get a contest started. I'll go first. |
| Lionheart42908-02-05, 04:47 AM | Mercurial Greatsword: 600gp, 2d6 damage, X4 crit, 18lbs, slashing damage. :D:D oh yeah, thats the stuff. I built a good 20 characters around that weapon |
| Veomyr08-02-05, 07:41 AM | sword chuks, yo 300gp 1d6/1d6 exotic weapon 18-20/x2 slashing/piercing |
| Keenath08-02-05, 09:21 AM | Katana, Shaa-piiing! 2000 gp, 4d6, 18-20 x5 On a more serious note... I like Kukri for some reason -- the martial dagger attracts me, I suppose... I'm also fond of the rapier and whip for the weirdness and swashbuckling connections. I also like the reach weapons, though I don't often use them. |
| Kaos12108-02-05, 09:29 AM | The bastard sword always gets overlooked by the greatsword (clumsy piece of...), but it's versatility I find attractive. In terms of rules, the bastard sword is the most powerful sword that can be two-handed for 1.5x STR. And with one level of Exotic Weapon Master, you can double your STR instead only increasing it by half. Go bastard sword. |
| Sluagh08-02-05, 09:37 AM | Bastard sword is pretty awesome. I tend to use it as a Martial Weapon two handed rather than use the feat for the Exotic Weapon Proficiency to use it 1-handed... I rarely use shields anyway. Mercurial Greatsword has seen a few of my characters through a heavy scrap. Rapier has also been a favorite, stat wise along with Weapon finesse; without weapon finesse, I prefer scimitar for style points. |
| babysamurai08-02-05, 09:57 AM | The rapier is definitely the sleeper weapon. 1. It's Finessable 2. It's got crit 18-20 3. It's not exotic 4. It's Power Attackable 5. It's piercing, so can be used underwater at no penalty. |
| AramilWindwalker08-02-05, 10:01 AM | I am a huge fan of daggers, yes daggers 2gp 1d4 19-20/x2 1lb best part, useable by almost everyone, and useable for melee and ranged. They are perfect. especially with Invisible blade or master thrower, or the favored soul dagger thrower I'm making soon |
| Zepherin08-02-05, 10:13 AM | except for flavor, why would anyone want to wield a bastard sword 2-handed, instead of just wielding a greatsword? My personal favorite weapons are the sickle (1d6, x2), the spiked chain (2d4, x2) and the great falchion (1d12, 18-20) |
| peanut3508-02-05, 10:20 AM | where is the great falchion? |
| Crox08-02-05, 10:25 AM | For me the best weapon is Spiked Chain: first off all it has reach and can strike into adjustent squares, next it can trip and disarm your opponents (and it will not provoke AoO if you are far away for your opponent). Next best, is a dire flail: you can attack with it using two-handed weapon benefits, when you have only one attack or make AoO, you can make one more attack, when making full attack, you can make disarm attack action, having bonus +2 for the weapon type and +4 for the weapon size, and, more, you can trip with it and all this actions you can repeat many times ... Ahhh what a nasty weapon!! $) But you need to spend EWP for it, and if you don't have any to spend, and you are a dwarf gye, try to use Dwarven Waraxe or Dwarven Urgosh, good weapons one! |
| Pippa08-02-05, 10:31 AM | Mine is the Thunderlance. Sorc/Wiz 4 Evocation (force), duration 1round/level. Base damage 2d6 (crit x3). I just gave my gnome a weightless, huge longspear she needn't be proficient with, giving her a virtual strenght of 12+caster level (max 15 though) and a natural reach from 1 up to 20 feet! Just picture. Lightsabers schlichtsabers. |
| The Vorpal Tribble08-02-05, 11:01 AM | Favorite - Bladed Boomerang 2nd - Razer Whip 3rd - Bolas 4th - Heavy pick |
| Messed_Lizardfolk08-02-05, 11:05 AM | I've always been a fan of Bludgeoning Weapons, and by far my favorite is the Warmace (1d12 x2 Crit.), its the most damaging Melee weapon you can hold one handed! |
| Arquinsiel08-02-05, 11:08 AM | Elven Straight sword. Like a rapiar but better. where is the great falchion?Erm... my interpretation of it is that the falchion is a Great Scimitar. |
| obrysii08-02-05, 11:11 AM | Scythes. They're just stylish. |
| Nuntius12808-02-05, 11:11 AM | except for flavor, why would anyone want to wield a bastard sword 2-handed, instead of just wielding a greatsword? Well, if you really need the extra 1/2 Str mod to damage, its good for that. For example, if you have a Barbarian who is using a Bastard Sword/Dwarven Waraxe, and reducing how much damage you take isn't as important as dealing more damage in a short amount of time, toss aside your shield and hack away. Otherwise, you have your shield for the rest of the times where the above doesn't apply. On that note, Dwarven Waraxe is probably my favorite weapon. 1d10 damage, x3 crit, slashing damage. A one-handed weapon dealing 1d10 damage, which is already pretty solid on its own, without needing to spend an Exotic feat is very nice. |
| Otogi08-02-05, 12:00 PM | Warmace 250 GP, 1d12, X2 Great for those who use it with one hand, better then the Bastardsword in my oppinion. |
| TheErsatzFacsimileOfMe08-02-05, 12:19 PM | Personally, I'd go with Scourge. Mysteriously absent in all versions since 2nd Edition. But, it's stylish and nasty. I guess the v3.X version of it would be the Nagaika from MoW. The Scourge was still better. Less of a whip more of a cat-o-nine-tails. Other than that I'd have to go with TWF with dual bastard swords. |
| ManinBlaq08-02-05, 12:43 PM | Favorite - Bladed Boomerang 2nd - Razer Whip 3rd - Bolas 4th - Heavy pick Is the Razer Whip your own creation ...or is it from a book? Inquiring minds want to know... |
| adamb0nd08-02-05, 12:50 PM | I'm a fan of pole arms on my rogues. Extended sneaky attack and keeps thinks a good 5 feet away from me at all times. For my fighters i like falcheons. It's all about imp crit and a 25% crit chance on all attack roles. |
| Thinker8908-02-05, 12:55 PM | I like the Mercurial Greatsword and the Maul. The sword looks cool and I like the idea of taking monkey grip and giving a creature this weapon that is bigger than themselves. |
| Wharin08-02-05, 01:11 PM | Any reaching, tripping weapon. With the improved trip feat and a good STR score, your enemy is going to be hard pressed to even touch you. Or if i am a dwarf, Dwarven Waraxe, or if my DM lets me substitute it as a familiar weapon, a Maul. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland08-02-05, 01:25 PM | Scythe. A sword says 'you're getting stabbed'. A mace says 'You're getting hit'. Only a scythe says 'I will take your gorram head off.' |
| GoofsterStud08-02-05, 01:31 PM | Coolest Weapon. Elven Courtblade. 1D10 Crit 18-20 Slashing/Piercing Damage Weapon Finess |
| sfubear08-02-05, 01:39 PM | I like punching daggers, the flavor of them is cool, in 3.0 (when the tempest was cool) I used them with a tempest character each one had wounding and he would just wail on people for about three rounds or four if he was doing good on hit points and then run away and let people bleed to death it was cool. |
| Zephyrus/Sonet08-02-05, 01:43 PM | I like Halberds :) |
| Lazy Wanderer08-02-05, 01:49 PM | I like cutlasses. They're even cooler than rapiers. Their exactly like rapiers in stats except they're piercing or slashing, they're light weapons, and they have a +2 on checks to resist being disarmed. ;) I think it makes sense that Rogues should automatically be proficient with cutlasses as a house rule. Also, Bastard Sword and Scythe are great. I'm not a big fan of bludgeoning weapons. |
| DisposableHero_08-02-05, 01:53 PM | Mighty. Composite. Longbow. Or, if you have lesser bracers of archery on hand, Mighty Composite Greatbow. |\ |\\ | \\ | \\ | \\ | \\ | || |>=========>> | || | // | // | // | // |// |/ |
| Keenath08-02-05, 01:57 PM | except for flavor, why would anyone want to wield a bastard sword 2-handed, instead of just wielding a greatsword?Well, it's got an option you don't have with a Greatsword, for one thing. Even without the exotic feat, you can use it two-handed, and then (if necessary for some reason) switch to one handed and still use it at a -4 nonproficiency penalty. And its average damage is only 1 point less than a greatsword, so it's not that big a sacrifice. (By way of example: You might be clinging to a surface while climbing, or holding a torch, or some other similar situation.) Only a scythe says 'I will take your gorram head off.'Firefly geek. ;) I always chuckle when I see "gorram" written out. Is that a chinese word like a lot of the curses on that show, or is it just a made-up curse, like "frell"? |
| Fanged Fremont08-02-05, 02:24 PM | I've always been a fan of Bludgeoning Weapons, and by far my favorite is the Warmace (1d12 x2 Crit.), its the most damaging Melee weapon you can hold one handed! Where is that listed? Anyway, I like sword canes. Never seen stats for them, but if I lived in a D&D world, I'd be a sorcerer/fighter with a sword cane. Anybody got stats? |
| ManinBlaq08-02-05, 02:32 PM | I'd say it'd be a rapier .. with a +2 circumstance bonus to bluff and slight of hand checks (once per opponent per encounter). |
| Fanged Fremont08-02-05, 02:39 PM | is a sword cane the things that look like a cane that has a thin sword inside? I handled one at a convention once and the cane itself was pretty weighty, figured it could be used as a weapon too. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland08-02-05, 02:41 PM | Firefly geek. ;) I always chuckle when I see "gorram" written out. Is that a chinese word like a lot of the curses on that show, or is it just a made-up curse, like "frell"? Its like 'shiny' its something small groups of people actually say here and now and logically, some of these would eventually become widly spread. Or so says Joss. |
| Arquinsiel08-02-05, 03:29 PM | Personally, I'd go with Scourge. FR campaign setting has a scourge in it from what I remember. |
| TheErsatzFacsimileOfMe08-02-05, 03:48 PM | FR campaign setting has a scourge in it from what I remember. I'll have to check into that. :) Though, it makes sense since Drow were the "favored users" of that weapon. Actually I believe it was Lloth's old favored weapon. I'll have to look that up now. /rumaging through old books now. |
| roggwil08-02-05, 05:06 PM | Extension Spear kerching! 150gp 10lbs Dragon 294 "A nasty surprise weapon, the extension spear looks exactly like a small spear (1d6 x2) until a hidden button is pressed (as a free action). Then, it shoots out to the length of a longspear (1d8 x3 5' reach) and can be used to attack :mymy: The character threatens an area exactly as if he were weilding a longspear, even when the extension spear is compressed....When the extension spear springs out to its longspear length , the character being attacked must succeed at a spot check (dc25) or be caught flat-footed." My Wizard / Rogue had great fun with this! :D |
| CommanderFalken08-02-05, 07:03 PM | There's a scourge in Complete Warrior. I love the Scythe. It's the weapon of the Ultimate God, NERULL. Also the Bastard Sword and Whipdagger. |
| Rulebook08-02-05, 07:07 PM | Dude, coolest weapon in the game: The Frost Brand! (you knew it was coming. you just didnt want to be the one to say it) |
| neilthrun08-02-05, 07:16 PM | ORC SHOT PUT!!!!! Combine with master thrower and disciple of dispater and your looking at a 13-20/x4 crit range. AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! Combine with some brutal throw action and youll be kicking butt. |
| Rulebook08-02-05, 07:25 PM | if you're going that route, look at the book Torn Asunder: Critical Hits (its 3.5!) take a scythe... 13-20/x7 (yes 7) of course i prefer Light Picks for that reason. same range and multiplier. dual wielding a pair of burst/burst/burst/burst light picks... |
| Gonbow08-02-05, 08:01 PM | Scythe. A sword says 'you're getting stabbed'. A mace says 'You're getting hit'. Only a scythe says 'I will take your gorram head off.' <awful japanese accent> Fatarity! Scythe Wins! <turns off accent> I second this motion and futhermore state that ice mephits wielding a scaled-down version of the frost scythe in SS are AWESOME! Power-attack sundering small creatures with a perfect flying maneuverability. Bwahahahaha! |
| Gray stranger08-02-05, 08:34 PM | 1. Spear - reach and looks cool 2. Dagger - looks cool, has many uses 3. Short sword - Larger dagger 4. Kukri - IMO, not worth the feat, but still cool |
| oberyn08-02-05, 10:55 PM | i gotta say a harpoon Harpoon Exotic 1d10 30 feet x2 Every hit it lodges in. you can have a rope to make str checks against your oponent to keep them from moving mroe than 30 feet away... or tie it to an immovable rod and run. also to take it out they need to make a heal check or take the same damage as when it went in. i had a quiver of endless harpoons for my pirate once. everyone thought he was a monk because he would walk into combat with no weapons out. quick draw+rapid shot+fighter+harpoon lodging= 5 attacks a round dealing the damage of 10 |
| Calibron08-02-05, 11:36 PM | I'm a fan of hardwood walking canes. Mechanically the same as a club or masterwork club. |
| Ziatyn Phoenixwolf08-02-05, 11:54 PM | I like the quarter staff a free, simple, double weapon. |
| Red_Bird_of_Chaos08-03-05, 12:14 AM | my favorite weapon is the monks unarmed strike it may only be 1D6 damage/ 20X2crit but you can use it with your hands full you can make up all sort of insane attacks(example "i poke him in the eyes" or "i kick him in shins") and it doesn't cost a single gold peice to improve it. |
| HiQKid08-03-05, 12:45 AM | Firefly geek. I always chuckle when I see "gorram" written out. Is that a chinese word like a lot of the curses on that show, or is it just a made-up curse, like "frell"? Well, I've never seen the show, so I can't speak for certain, but when I first saw the "Only a scythe says 'I will take your gorram head off.'" line, I honestly thought of a badly acented dwarf saying "god damn". Go ahead. Say it out loud. |
| Osedox08-03-05, 03:22 AM | Elven Straight sword. Like a rapiar but better. How? p.s. I havent heard of one before just wondering what is better than my favorite weapon |
| Zepherin08-03-05, 03:44 AM | Great Falchions can be found in Sandstorm (along with several other great weapons). And Gray Stranger, kukris are only martial wepons in 3.5 so you could make a fighter wielding kukris without spending a feat (they would probably make more sense on a rogue though.) Another cool weapon would be the sugliin from frostburn (2d8, x2, piercing and slashing) its a giant stick with antlers on that is so immensely heavy (20 lb.) that you can only make a single attack each round unless you take a feat. |
| Messed_Lizardfolk08-03-05, 08:19 AM | Where is that listed? Anyway, I like sword canes. Never seen stats for them, but if I lived in a D&D world, I'd be a sorcerer/fighter with a sword cane. Anybody got stats? It can be found in the Complete Warrior, although since its an exotic weapon, you need to spend a feat to use it. |
| Kaos12108-03-05, 09:21 AM | except for flavor, why would anyone want to wield a bastard sword 2-handed, instead of just wielding a greatsword? I know, I know, everyone's already commented on this, but I'm going to say something on it anyway. with 18 STR (nonmagical): Greatsword: 6-16 Bastard Sword: 7-16 with Exotic Weapon Master: Bastard Sword: 9-18 Bastard Sword also has the added benefit of versatility. Also, you can Monkey Grip a Bastard Sword that is one category larger for Greatsword damage, but Bastard Sword benefits: Bastard Sword: 10-20 Bastard Sword = better. My memory may be wrong, but I don't know how you hold a warmace with one hand... Regardless, you can't cut yourself out of a dragon's stomach with a warmace! |
| Duration_10_Rounds08-03-05, 10:55 AM | ORC SHOT PUT!!!!! Combine with master thrower and disciple of dispater and your looking at a 13-20/x4 crit range. AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! Combine with some brutal throw action and youll be kicking butt. Orc Shotput 2nded.... Nothing quite like throwing a cannon ball at some ones head :D |
| Fanged Fremont08-03-05, 09:44 PM | It can be found in the Complete Warrior, although since its an exotic weapon, you need to spend a feat to use it. LIES! Lies and trickery! You work for Barnes and Noble don't you? Making me go out and buy a book for a weapon that's not there. Never trust Lizardfolk. :hoppingma |
| OmniPaul08-03-05, 10:22 PM | I know, I know, everyone's already commented on this, but I'm going to say something on it anyway. with 18 STR (nonmagical): Greatsword: 6-16 Bastard Sword: 7-16 with Exotic Weapon Master: Bastard Sword: 9-18 Bastard Sword also has the added benefit of versatility. Where did you get that number? I got 8-18 Medium Greatsword: 2d6 Min:2 Max: 12 STR18->4 THF->4*1.5 = 6 6+2=8 6+12=18 8-18 And this is without any feats, unless the character doesn't have Martial Weapon Proficiency. With Monkey Grip: Large Greatsword: 3d6 Min:3 Max:18 STR18->4 THF->4*1.5 = 6 6+3=9 6+18=24 9-24 Of course, with your two bastard swords, you get an extra attack, but you'd lose the benefit of Uncanny Blow since it's not two-handed. Large Bastard Sword: 2d8 Min:2 Max:16 STR18->4 4+2=6 4+16=20 6-20 Assuming you're level 7 and all three attacks hit: 6*3=18 20*3=60 18-60 or if you're THF: STR->4 4*2=8 8+2=10 8+16=24 10-24 Assuming level 7 and both attacks hit: 10*2=20 24*2=48 20-48 Assuming the greatsword wielder is level 7 and both his attacks hit: 9*2=18 24*2=48 18-48 So, yes, dual-wielding large bastard swords has a higher potential damage than a large greatsword and THF with a large bastard sword has a minimum damage two points higher than that of the large greatsword's, but at the cost of a large to hit penalty when TWF and having spent three feats (Exotic Weapon Proficiency, Monkey Grip, Weapon Focus) compared to the greatsword wielder's one (Monkey Grip). |
| Duke08-03-05, 10:43 PM | Bastard Sword. Even if you don't take the EWP, it weighs 10 pounds less than the Greatsword. I don't know about you guys, but in our campaigns we pay very close attention to encumbrance. That 10 pounds is the difference between 1.5 points of damage and 10 days of food. |
| OmniPaul08-03-05, 11:01 PM | Bastard sword is 6 pounds. Greatsword is 8 pounds. That is a 2 pound difference, not 10. |
| Duke08-03-05, 11:10 PM | Stupid 3.0/3.5 crossover making me say stupid things. |
| Calibron08-04-05, 03:09 AM | Exotic Weapon Proficiency Bastard Sword allows a medium creature to wield a Large Bastard Sword(2d8) as a Two-Handed Weapon at a -2 penalty to attack rolls; this gives +2 average damage over a Medium Greatsword(medium creatures can't normally wield Large Greatswords at all since they are already classified as Two-Handed weapons). Add Monkey Grip or Powerful Build to the mix and you can wield a Large Greatsword(3d6) at a -2 penalty to attack or a Huge Bastard Sword(3d8) at a -4 to attack. In this situation the Bastard Sword's average damage is 3 points higher than the Greatswords. |
| Lionheart42908-04-05, 04:03 AM | Replace all *greatsword* with *mercurial greatsword*. Factor THAT one. Yeah. X4 on a crit+ Improved crit=Both bastard swords AND greatswords are inferior. Go mercuirals. The only sword SO cool, there's a dragon with it's name! Yeah! |
| Pliskit08-04-05, 05:13 AM | Bastardswords.... Greatswords... MY favourite weapon always has been the 1/8 staff. Only one attack at very low bab in the hands of my lvl 5 gnome druid and so utterly useless in combat it became legendary :) Now that he's lvl 10 he's got some nice spells to imbue it with, but NOTHING that would be cooler then the direct damage spells of the same level :) |
| Lionheart42908-04-05, 05:17 AM | (on a side note, think if i can get 5 pages, i can get this stickied for awhile?) |
| AramilWindwalker08-04-05, 08:23 AM | Time to re iterate, although i love Greatswords and all my clerics carry maces, daggers are the best. |
| Sluagh08-04-05, 08:37 AM | (on a side note, think if i can get 5 pages, i can get this stickied for awhile?) Shouldn't need to be stickied if it's that active. It'll just keep getting bumped to the top by activity. |
| buggritall08-07-05, 08:24 AM | Well, mechanically, the best simple or martial weapon I believe is the morningstar. "I spike you in the face!" |
| AramilWindwalker08-07-05, 02:37 PM | Well, mechanically, the best simple or martial weapon I believe is the morningstar. "I spike you in the face!" Daggers, daggers I say!!!! I stab you from behind! or I fling it at you from the shadows! |
| sessho_maru08-07-05, 07:29 PM | Favorite- Kusari-Gama 2nd- Scythe 3rd- My own body parts 4th- My allies, or a greatsword And by the way, you can find the Scourge in Complete Warrior. |
| The Livewire08-07-05, 08:11 PM | Don't know about mechanically, but I love the great scimitar. I like high crit ranges, always makes me warm and fuzzy to crit something. Two of my Theme Blades, Glorious Hand of Imperial Wisdom and Rigid Obedience are great scimitars. |
| Vadin08-07-05, 08:25 PM | I like improvised weapons. Like toasters. Or, you know, chairs. And allies. And thier dead bodies. And said bodies' limbs. Very fun. Me-"Ok...5 orcs, right? Well, I rip off Nick's arm ("Hey! Thats my arm, jerk! ") and beat the closest orc with." DM-:uh-huh:"WOW. All right. The orc dies." Me-"Good. Now I eat his arm." DM-(Rolls some dice) "Again, WOW. The other orcs are nauseated, and begin to puke." Me-"Alls going according to plan. I drink the vomit and do a dance." DM-"Thats so gross!" Me"I know." DM-"Its so gross, their heads explode. And Nick dies." Me-"I win!" |
| Amphetryon08-07-05, 08:46 PM | Coolest weapon? My choice is a Keen Wounding Sonic Mercurial Dire Pick [CW]. Exotic 1-H weapon. Damage:1-8 + 1d6 Sonic + CON. Threat range: 19-20/X5. :OMG! :mymy: :evillaugh Best overall weapon? Daggers are wonderful for versatility. Morningstars are such a de facto best Simple weapon choice that I made them Martial weapons in my campaigns. I just wanted to give Clerics and Sorcerers reason to use anything else. |
| BeyondFated08-07-05, 08:58 PM | (Note that my group uses 3.0 weapon sizes so...) I'd say the half-gaint weilding a huge morningstar. Because really, nothing makes ya wet yerself like a spiked wrecking-ball tied to a tree log. |
| Algorithm_X08-07-05, 09:55 PM | Adamantine Dagger, because cutting through steel/wood/stone like flesh is very handy. Also it is small and easily concealed. I call it my universal "lock pick". |
| chitzk0i08-07-05, 09:58 PM | I like the heavy flail. The d10 damage gives it a nice WHAM. I think it should deal the same type of damage as the morningstar, but it's kind of a minor point. |
| Gnome_Dragon_Disciple08-07-05, 10:08 PM | I was once a player in a party with a drunken master... He didn't have improved trip or improved grapple, but when he was drunk (always), he'd pick up one enemy and use it as a weapon on another (treated as a flail two size categories larger than his own for creatures of the same size as himself). With his effective strength of 45, he could handle it easilly, and with monkey grip and improvised weapon proficiency he could wield a conscious half orc with a -4 penalty. |
| Cross250108-08-05, 01:06 AM | Alright, just for clarification, I'd like to see people listing normal weapons (i. e., anything WotC has published) and obscure made-up weapons. I know it's my first post and I'll catch slack for it, and I sure as hell didn't start the thread, but I love seeing DM's come up with crazy weapons on their own. Okay, rant (which I hope is really taken as more of a keen suggestion) over. Bastard sword, wielded two-handed just for the effect. I like it. Also, best weapon I've ever come across in any game (lo and behold) came from one of mine. It's the infamous Cat tied to a Stick, costs about ten gold (from the seller to the buyer...that old "you'd have to pay me..." thing) and little-to-no damage on anything. Also, it's a ***** to keep alive, but the up-keep is so worth it. The character I gave it to was a bit in shock. In reality it wasn't that bad of weapon with the setting they were in, but I'm ranting agian and unless asked I think I should stop here. |
| SodaGuy08-08-05, 01:16 AM | Maybe we should find the highest damage output at different costs. What's the most damage you can do with a weapon under 2500gp? Under 5000? Under 10,000? |
| Awron_Bawll08-08-05, 01:41 AM | returning daggers!!! i use 6 of them all have sleep poison on them for an extra kick :D, 1 quick flury of flying daggers and poof 6 sleeping bodygaurds and 1 soon to be dead nobel :P course i use my bastard swords for that whole killing thing |
| SirCaran08-08-05, 02:17 AM | Cat on a stick, What were yu thinking? i guess it isn't that bad, one of my friends had a spear tied to a snake, used it like a harpoon with a rope attached. anyway what were the stats for the "catstick?" |
| Messed_Lizardfolk08-08-05, 08:39 AM | LIES! Lies and trickery! You work for Barnes and Noble don't you? Making me go out and buy a book for a weapon that's not there. Never trust Lizardfolk. :hoppingma There be no lying here, It IS in Complete Warrior! I don't have the book with me right now but its in the new Equipment Section at the back. And no, I don't work for Barnes and Noble, there be no stores of that type in Canada, only Coles & Chapters, and Oh boy, do I wish that I did work there (10% Discount on all books Woo!) Page Reference: Warmace (Weapon) [Complete Warrior] (3.5) p158 |
| Wharin08-08-05, 10:59 AM | Adamantine Dagger, because cutting through steel/wood/stone like flesh is very handy. Also it is small and easily concealed. I call it my universal "lock pick". Oh! I can't believe of forget this! The one rogue that i ever played, who invested in skills other than pick lock and disable device, made excellant use of this doodad! O the drawer is locked and most likely trapped? OK, i cut through the top of the dresser and go in from the top! |
| Sluagh08-08-05, 11:26 AM | Yeah, Adamantine Dagger is awesome. My current Epic Level Master Thrower/Invisible Blade Halfling has 6 of them enchanted +2 with Teleporting, Flaming Burst and Shocking Burst... awesome little weapons and tools, no real reason to use any other weapon (except perhaps his +1 Ghosttouch/Disruption Light Mace in specific situations). |
| Cross250108-08-05, 11:31 AM | Cat on a stick, What were yu thinking? i guess it isn't that bad, one of my friends had a spear tied to a snake, used it like a harpoon with a rope attached. anyway what were the stats for the "catstick?" The snake thing seems a bit crazy. Alright, Furious Cat Tied to a Stick stats...1d4 slashing (while conscious...the cat that is) 1 bludgeoning when not, 20-20 crit range and the only saving grace the stupid thing ever had was it's low-level turning ability. Any 6HD worth of undead within five feet of the cat (while alive, dead cats don't do much) would be turned as the cleric ability. It was a condition of the setting I had, and a player had the balls to ask me if I'd give him a "super-duper magic weapon". It comes with a sheath (just an ordinary large bag to shove it in) and it needs to eat about half a normal persons rations a day to survive. If you're doing crit fails in the game then you can probably guess what happens. Kitty gets loose and goes for the throat of whoever it hates the most, which is generally the player who was using the poor kitty as the Mace of Meowing. I can't tell you what joy it is to have a bunch of zombies attacking a party and suddenly the fighter in the party is wrestling a cat. Also, it's considered a martial weapon...I'm not sure how that came about. Maybe I took pity on the guy for having to flay people with a feline. The great fun is the upkeep, trying to sheath the cat is a grapple check while the cat is trying to disembowel the player, he can't set the thing down or it trys to run away, and best of all is the strange look you get from towns folk when they see you. |
| Osedox08-08-05, 11:41 AM | Hey could someone post the stats for either of these weapons? Somone mentioned them on an earlier post and caught my interest. |
| spoogemonkey08-09-05, 11:05 AM | I like Slings.... they are: 1) FREE!!! hard to beat the cost to damage ratio of FREE! 2) they are Ranged ... you get Distance between the enemy and you 3) the ammo is FREE! you can't ever run out.... just pick up stones and fire away 4) you get a str bonus!!! you have to pay LOTS of gold to get a str bonus on other ranged weapons, but not Slings! 5) and did I mention that they are FREE? If you lose one.... you can MAKE another one.... out of your hat! or pant leg... I also like flails: 1) one-handed 2) disarm 3) bludgeoning and piercing 4) good dmg 5) look wicked! |
| Garkahn08-09-05, 09:12 PM | what is the mercurial thing? Whats it do to a weapon? And finally, where can i find it? |
| Graven08-09-05, 09:58 PM | thats easy spiked chain - reach, trip. and its a freaking spiked chain flachion - 2d4 aren't that good, but its a 2 handed weap with 18-20 x2 crit, perfect for someone who relies on str damage (full orc barbs i'm looking at you). mighty composite longbow - death from afar |
| Graven08-09-05, 10:09 PM | oh, and don't forget the ol' hulking hurler using a returning mountain as a weapon. That'd be sweet. |
| FlameLover08-09-05, 10:11 PM | Alot of what has been mentioned is in the Arms & Equipment Guide, a 3.0 supplement (it's pretty good though). Anyway I love the Falchion and with monkey grip it can be used one-handed (score!). |
