| Lanky Ogre Baggy Pants02-12-06, 07:37 PM | How much would various animals cost? The PHB has the cost for horses and dogs, but how much would different types of falcons, or other animals, cost? Also, Champions of Valor introduced breeds of horses that had stat adjustments for different costs. What kind of cost adjustment would apply to changing the stats for different dogs, or how would you create new breeds of horses? I'm thinking of creating a campaign in which different breeds of animals are fairly well known and/or there will be a lot of people with similar animal companions or familiars and I would like a mild way to differentiate them. |

One of my friends was thinking about 1000 gp for a falcon, but I have no idea where to start. I was also wondering what the cost or range for animals like elephants, lions, bears, etc would be. Throughout history there were a lot of nobles that bought exotic animals for their own private zoo, I was just wondering were to start. |

Chordevoc, a Tiny flying animal from Races of the Wild that halflings find easy to train, sell for 150 gp Young Giant Eagles/Dire Eagles, both of which are LARGE creaturs and so ridable by Medium ones, cost 4,000 gp Elven Hounds (medium) go for 150 gp Dire Badgers (Medium) go for 100 gp You can read more here: http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Creatures.pdf |

In medieval Europe a real life elephant would've been worth a fortune probably, while in India they were much more common... Exclusiveness for the region your players are in is a factor to be reckoned with, and that's something only you as a DM can determin. |
