Cost for item that resists divinations [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-31-06, 02:20 PM The cost for an item that gives a save bonus, resistance type, is the bonus squared x 1000. But if I want a item that gives a bonus for just on type of save? Or for just one type of school of magic.

I wanna make a Headband that gives +4 to saves agains divinations.

Headband of +4 Will Save agains divinations:

One save instead of all three is 50% cheaper (x 0.5)
8,000 gp

One save and one school would likely be adhoc and may be 1/3 (x 0.33)
5,333 gp

This assumes Will save against Divinations is "mental improvement". Otherwise the DM may apply the x1.5 cost increase for Slot Affinity.

The slot is not itself important at all, I just wanted to know the price for the specific bonus.
The ring is not enough. I'm planning to play a masked character, to be incognito. Problems with the mob. So I needed some items to prevent any divination attempting to find his true identity.

Why not just get an item that grants a mislead effect? It is only a 2nd level spell, so even a continuous use would be cheep. Also, it is better to have an incongruous aura than to have no aura at all. Blocking scrying attracts attention.

Check it out, a liberal interpretation means that it will even disguise the auras of your magic items!

Mislead is a 6th level spell, not 2nd.

And even if it were 2nd, the described effect you had would not be cheap regardless of the spell level.
