Cost of musical instruments [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-02-06, 11:30 PM Hi to everyone. It's long since I last played and a lot's changed. About musical instruments? They're mentioned, but not priced! If I wanted to make my own bagpipes, how do I calculate the cost of materials? Thanks in advance for your advice.

5 gp for a common instrument, and 100 gp for a masterwork instrument.
They are in the "tools and skill kits" section of the "goods and services" section of the price list.

As a rule of thumb, most things can be made at a cost of 50% of what they can be bought for. It's just a matter of the time it takes to make it. The craft skill has more details on that subject.

I guess after seeing the big section explaining what instruments are available, and how they can be used by bards to affect game play, that there might have been a specific music table (like for gear). I suppose if they were to list EVERYTHING you'd need 2 or 3 handbooks... (yes, I know. Don't say it too loudly.)
