| JiCi10-06-05, 07:43 PM | Back on the Eberron Boards, I had an idea of a cluster of spell turrets (10 to be exact) mounted to an airship figurehead (a massive carved dragonhawk head) in the form of the dragonhawk's sweptback feathers (just above the eyes). My question is this: Could a spell turret, or even a cluster of turrets, be mounted on another object, whether mundane or magical ? Like a druid's staff or a full plate armor spikes, for example ? |
| Judging Eagle10-06-05, 08:58 PM | If it feels good. And the money paid is right. Doo eet. [/Arnold] Seriously, just pay the creation cost of the spell turrets, and have them get activated by a user.... Spell Cannons?1?!!one1eleven |
| JiCi10-14-05, 04:41 PM | any other opinion ? |
| primemover00310-14-05, 04:51 PM | Well this isn't exactly "carried." Can you mount them or craft them as part of a Ship or airship... sure why not? |
| JiCi10-14-05, 05:13 PM | Well this isn't exactly "carried." Can you mount them or craft them as part of a Ship or airship... sure why not? "Carried" as in "there is a spell turret mounted on top of a wizard's quarterstaff, which acts as a walking stick" |
| primemover00310-14-05, 05:38 PM | Then I would say no... they're supposed to like a Machine Gun nests, big fixed spell gun emplacements. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland10-14-05, 05:39 PM | The big question is can you mount one to a Warforged. |
| Acheron10-14-05, 05:50 PM | Brain Blast!!!1 I see entire Battlesips in the not too distant future here... This also makes dwarf strongholds very, VERY, VERY obsolete... Poor dwarves :weep: |

Poor dwarves :weep: Who ever said that dwarfs don't have wizards. We just make bad sorcers, which almost not of us are. :( |
| Loren Pechtel10-14-05, 11:09 PM | Too powerful. Take an airship and put a bunch of turrets with no-SR spells on it. You can wander around killing all sorts of things with little difficulty. |
| Judging Eagle10-15-05, 02:23 PM | Who ever said that dwarfs don't have wizards. We just make bad sorcers, which almost not of us are. :( Just make larger... spell turrets that can't be moved; outrange and outblast the smaller mobile dreadnought-airships. No... don't mount on a staff... these are.. Turrets we're talking about here, unless you have minuturization magics.... Oh, permanent shrink item on the turrets; keep them on smaller ships, land, zie them up; fire salvos, shrink them back, re-board the ship and repeat from a different area. This is actualy the tactics that modern missile trucks use nowadays, get to a point, fire off a pair or salvo, haul ass, fire from a different spot. In any case, remember what Gurney Halleck said "...they're completely invincible, but they can't move my Duke.... they don't stant a chance...." Mobility is what wins wars. |
| InkBlot10-15-05, 02:39 PM | Except that Shrink Item doesn't work on magic items. You could probably carry a single turret on a Tenser's Floating Disc, or on the back of an appropriately strong animal (an elephant, a tyrannosaur, the party barbarian). How heavy are these things? And what book are they out of? |
| Tainted Mage10-15-05, 03:08 PM | Possibly on a Warforged, but then shrink it and the spell down. And give it a chance to knock the 'forged back a ways, like.... Argh! >_< Clouting! Like the clouting ability from Complete Arcane. Only, the 'forged is automatically flung back if the roll says. |
| Super_Demolition_Christ10-15-05, 03:46 PM | if your interested in that, try this, Used perminant Shrink Item on a balista. The part is discuissing how they are going to fight that big monster over there who hasnt seen them yet. Well...BALLISTA!!! |
