Counterspelling Items? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-23-05, 12:01 AM Is it possible to counterspell a spell cast from a scroll or out of a wand/staff? I don't even know where to start looking for an answer to this. Any help would be appreciated.

05-23-05, 11:28 AM I would say definitely yes for a spell it is a "spell completion" item.

Not so sure about a wand/other item, but I would rule on the spot to allow a player to do it.
It seems logical.

The reason I'ma want to know is I'm working on a counterspelling thingamabob, and I want to know if it's possible to counterspell such items as written before I give them the ability to do so explicitly, thereby saving myself the time to write down a useless ability (or not).
