Can someone help me check my math?

I'd like to make an item that Casts Delay Poison at CL 6 2/day.

I take Caster Level (6), multiply by Spell Level (2) and then Multiply that by 1800 (Command Word Item)

Then I want it only to work twice per day, so I divide by... what?

It says (5 divided by the number of times per day)

That would mean if there's 1 charge I divide the cost by 5, but if there's two only by 2.5?? That seems a huge jump, and I'm not sure if I'm reading it right at all. Can someone let me know so I can figure this out a little bit. I'm usually ok with this stuff but it's morning here and math is, as we all know, hard.

Twice per day costs twice as much as a 1/day.

Just divide by 5 then multiply by 2.

Yes, that is the same as dividing by 2.5

Your mathematical impression of it being a huge jump was wrong.

In my mind, dividing a number in the tens of thousands by 5, and dividing that number by 2.5 are quite different, actually.

Base cost 20,000 gp.

Cost to make it 1/day = 20,000/5 = 4,000 gp.

Cost to make it 2/day = 20,000/2.5 = 8,000 gp.

Pay twice as much, get twice as much.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Seconded.

Um, you know, perhaps you are just misunderstanding me. I didn't say it wasn't reasonable. I just said that when I was working the math the numbers didn't seem right and I wanted some help.

Which I now got, and thank you for that.
