TrackStar 08-12-06, 05:17 AM	I'm not sure if this is the wrong forum but: Whats the check to craft a Masterwork Composite greatbow with bowmaking? What about a composite greatbow with a +5 strength bonus? How much money? time? (to help out: a Masterwork comp. great bow costs 500gp (300gp masterwork + 200gp greatbow) and 200 gp for each strength mod, so a +5 strength mod comp greatbow would cost 1500gp) What I have so far is: 0.The masterwork check is a DC20 which is a seperate component to the comp great bow (+5 str) and its price is 1/3 of the 300gp for masterwork weapons. (100gp) Still don't know how long for the masterwork component either. 1. the comp greatbow without the masterwork component would cost 12,000 silver pieces 2. DC = no idea 3. 1/3 of the price = 4000 silver 4. don't know the craft check for 1 weeks work etc. etc. Reference: pg 70-71 PHB; pg 156 CW
psionichamster 08-12-06, 10:01 AM	well, here's the check for a composite Longbow/Shortbow Composite longbow or composite shortbow with high strength rating DC: Bowmaking 15 + (2 × rating) the "Masterwork Component" of the bow takes place concurrently as the rest of the bow, and simply adds its time to the rest of the time to make the bow. it also requires another check to be made (actually easier than the bow, by the above equation.) SO... (as given above, masterwork adds to the time of the rest of the craft) 0.The masterwork check is a DC20 which is a seperate component to the comp great bow (+5 str) and its price is 1/3 of the 300gp for masterwork weapons. DC = 25 (15 + (2*5)) 3. 1/3 of the price = 4000 silver 4. Crafter's Int Mod + Ranks in Craft: Bowmaker + any of the following modifiers: Masterwork Tools: +2 Assistant using Aid Another: +2 Sooo... a 7th lvl crafter with a 14 int, masterwork tools and an assistant capable of aiding another consistently has a grand total of +16 on his craft check. (10 rks) + (2 int) + (2 tools) + (2 assistant) = 16 if he were to take Skill Focus: Craft(bowmaking), that would be 19 Skill Mod +16 + 10 (take 10) * 25 = 650 26 * 20 (mwk. component) * 20 = +520 1170 sp/wk so, in about 3.5 wks, you'd have your bow all set at least, i think i did the math out right there feel free to doublecheck the calculations, but they SHOULD be true to the craft rules namaste' the hamster
