| grizo209905-24-07, 06:07 AM | I've been playing around with this idea for a while and decided to make it its a hand crossbow that attaches to your forearm and i have some ideas as to how that mechanism to fire it works first: is a bar that extends to you hand from the trigger and you pull down and it releases the catch firing the bolt. Second: is a pressure plate in you palm the basically dose the same thing as the first. if anyone has and comments or ideas they are greatly appreciated. |

I'd recommend the trigger placed on the weapon proper and operated by the other hand - ought to make for easier aiming too. Or using magic. And a crossbow of that size incidentally isn't going to be very powerful or long-ranged, making the point of the exercise somewhat questionable. Odds are you'd do just as well by throwing a dart. |

Exotic Ranged Weapon: Spring-Loaded Gauntlet Cost: 200gp Damage: 1D3 (S) 1D4 (M) Crit: x2 Range Increment: 20ft. Weight: 4lbs. Damage Type: Piercing Description: This gauntlet possesses a broad ridge of metal that extends along the bottom of the forearm to the edge of the wrist articulation, where a circular orifice is visible. This ridge of metal hides a spring-loaded mechanism that can expel a bolt with great force, akin to a miniscule crossbow. You load the gauntlet by inserting a bolt in the hole and pulling back a hidden lever. Loading the spring-loaded gauntlet is a move-equivalent action that provokes an attack of opportunity. You fire the spring-loaded gauntlet by sighting down your arm, then flip your hand back so that your palm faces your opponent - this motion fires the gauntlet. A character who attempts to fire two spring-loaded gauntlets at once incurs the standard penalties for two-weapon fighting. |

I just statted it as a hand crossbow and called it good. If you wanted to get picky, I'd give it a +10 bonus against disarm attempts, and require use of the off hand to fire it (leaving the primary hand usable for holding other things or casting). As for power level, these things aren't used for damage or long range sniping, but rather delivering poison. Their small nature makes them easier to sneak past guards. |
| Thor_axe_impaler05-24-07, 10:48 AM | I think that your template for this crossbow is really solid. The hand crossbow is a great start, since it is basically the same weapon except attached to the forearm. I dont think you need any changes. |
| Silverthumb12805-24-07, 04:10 PM | Make a magical bracer with the spell Launch Bolt. Its a 0 level spell, so it won't be too expensive. Just pay the extra for unlimited uses/day, and bada-bing. :D Want more than 1/round? Buy two of em. |
| bloodtalon05-24-07, 09:27 PM | take a spring loaded gauntlet and add quickloading to it now you fire it as many attacks per round during full attack both in ARMS AND EQUIPMENT GUIDE |
