| Sir Knight09-14-05, 07:41 AM | I have a person in my gaming group who would like to get a necklace (made of bear claws and two young dragon fangs) enhanced with a STR bonus (like a permanent Bull's Strength or some such). Anyone have any advice on this matter and if you can point me to the proper item creation rules that cover this I would greatly appreciate it as I'm sure others will want to create their own stat increasing equipment. Thank you! |

Strenght enchancement bonis are ususally granted by gauntlets, belts and rarely weapons. According to the rules the item would cost 150% if made in the form of an amulet or necklace. More information about your question are in your DMg at the end of the magic items chapter. ;) |

| RavenDrake09-14-05, 10:50 PM | Actually, the easiest way is just to raise the price of a normal strengh enhancing item(Like the Gauntlets) by 150%, unless he wanted it to have some other ability. |
| Colmarr09-15-05, 01:43 AM | Ravendrake, I think you mean increase the price by 50%, or to 150%. (ie. an Amulet of Giant Strength +4 should be 24,000gp) Increasing by 150% makes an Amulet of Giant Strength +4 cost 40,000gp (ie 2.5 times the cost of the item in its normal belt form). |

If strength only comes on a specific slot, and you can't craft a different item for strength, you will have to do some thinking, conculating, cost and effect etc. to decide what is the item you should take. I am a DM, but I think that as a player I would enjoy having two different items for the same slot, and making my choice between the two. Crafting it to another slot makes up for decision making. |
| RavenDrake09-15-05, 04:34 AM | Sorry, minor glitch in semantics. What I meant was increasing it to 150% of base.... Ie, Base x 1.5. Sorry for the confusion. And, yes, DeadEye does have a point. You have the choice to let him add this item or not. It IS in a slot not dedicated to Str items. However, I think that, giving up the necklace slot (which is useful for fighters types in Nat Armour) AND paying extra is worth letting him have this item, especially since he went to the trouble of creating a flavourful item (bear claws and dragon fangs... did the player, by chance, slay the bears and dragons in question? If he did, then I'd be more willing to let him have the item as a roleplay prop as much as a piece of equipment). |
