03-02-06, 02:29 AM According to the descriptor for dodge bonus, you may not create a magic item(or spell) that confers a dodge obnus to AC, correct?

Also where can i find the rules for creating items that have specific requirements to use, e.g. must have a certain skill, be a certain alignment, etc?Page 285 of the DMG doesnt have it.....

03-02-06, 09:52 AM Creating magic items with specific skill/class/alignment requirements falls under Other Considerations (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm#otherConsideratio ns) in the SRD. It's very simple (unlike most item creation rules): requiring a skill reduces the item's price by 10%, requiring a specific class or alignment reduces it by 30%.

03-02-06, 11:57 AM DON'T go using the class/race restrictions without talking to your DM. They are intended to affect the price of that you sell the item for, NOT the price to make the item.

A Strict DM will charge you MORE to make such an item (You put a lock on it to prevent your enemies from using it.)

A Loose DM will let you use them, but not reduce the cost to make it.

A Power or Anything Goes DM will let you reduce the price to make.

Dodge bonuses to AC.

That falls under the "AC, Other" category. Price is:
AC bonus (other) Bonus squared × 2,500 gp
( Instead of the normal cost for Armor, Bonus squared x 1,000 gp.)

You most probably will want to make the items an Unslotted items, to get say 20 of them.
This would cost 1*1*2,500 * 2 * 20 = 100,000 gp
as opposed to:
+20*20*1,000 = 400,000 gp.

But a Strict or Loose DM will outlaw this, saying that it is impossible to make a Dodge bonus magic item with non-epic magic, that is unslotted. If you allow only sltted items, the problem no longer becomes really abusive.

A Power DM might allow some unslotted dodge bonuses, but chances are even he will put in some kind of in game limit.

It will take an Anything Goes DM to let you get away with unlimited unslotted Dodge bonuses to AC.

I just got a reply from wizards.Dodge bonus may not be added to magic items unless house ruled.
