Creating Magic ammo [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-30-06, 11:16 AM Can't find how many magic arrows are created at a time - was sure it was 20 but I can't find it. Can you help me document it for my DM?

Was looking at playing a Pixie in a game but DM said I would have to make my own arrows or do without the Sleep ones.

Sleep Arrow DMG 228 costs 69gp 5sp + 5xp to make. Now that's the one from the DMG DC 11 Will save but Pixie arrows (MMi v3.5 pg236) have a higher DC 15 Fort. Says it is Charisma based +2 for racial so I was thinking if I went up in Cha so would the save DC.

A day per 1000gp in the DMG also so looks to me like ammunition would come in bundles.

He has already said no bow to apply the spell to the arrows.

Also - what about a Wondrous item that creates arrows? mundane or magical doesn't matter. If we are out in the woods and I run out as long as I can get mundane arrows I might be able to craft them as magical.

03-30-06, 11:35 AM As I recall, ammo is usually enchanted by the lot of 50.

03-31-06, 08:57 AM It's in the DMG; my book's at home, so I can't tell you the page. It's in the section on Magic Weapons; should be labelled "Magical Ammunition Creation" or some such...it's towards the back.

03-31-06, 10:35 AM A note on Table 7-9 on DMG page 222 where they discuss the market price of each +1 enhancement/bonus says that the price is for 50 arrows.
On Table 7-13 it lists market price of arrows, bolts and bullets by bundles of 50.

If I have "Craft Magic Arms and Armor" I can make +1 arrows. I can use a scroll or wand of Sleep to craft Sleep arrows even if I can't cast the spell. I would like to see where it talks about making 50 arrows at once so I know whether one scroll could be used on 50 arrows or I need 50 scrolls. I get the feeling I can make 50 +1 arrows but the Sleep arrows are 1 at a time with a scroll per.

What about Psionic powers? Can they be treated like spells for cost & time and added to arrows?
