Me and a player are arguing over the cost of Xp to create an item. The arguement is that splitting the XP to create an item gives the helper only 5 gp for each XP they spend on the item. In my oppinion I would say 25 gp for each XP is more feasible. So which is it? I mean XP doesn't just grow on trees.

I don't believe splitting the XP is legal, by the RAW. I think it comes out of the sucker crafter with the feat, regardless.

If you're houseruling that this is legal, then it's really up to the helper what they want to charge. The guidelines given in the books are based on what NPCs tend to charge for their precious XP. You can charge 200 gp per, or nothing at all; it's your choice. Of course, nobody has to buy them, either.
