| Kaladon777907-28-06, 09:09 AM | Now I'm kind of new on this but by reading the DMG creating weapons they can have a total of up to +10 bonuses regarding market price/creation price. So example Vorpal +5 Vicousness +1 +3 enchancement would make the weapon bonus of +9, with the 1 left behind I could put like another enchancement bonus or ability that is in the +1 catagory only. but regardless it can not pass +10 correct? |
| Dalthbar07-28-06, 09:18 AM | Correct. You have a total of +10 total enchantments and you can not exceed a +5 enhancement bonus. The "most common" route is to have a +5 weapon with a total of +5 abilities. That could be a +5 flaming, frost, cold, acidic, keen weapon or a +5 vorpal blade. How you divvy it up is to you. Though a lot of people want to get as much "punch" for their 200k and have a +1 weapon with +9 worth of abilities. You can see that the types of weapons can become either very focused (using banes and the like) or very broad (which is never a bad thing). With countless splat books with many weapon abilities to choose from, sometimes you want to get as many weapon abilities as you can on a weapon at the cost of a lower enhancement bonus. Hope this helps. |
| Random Hero07-28-06, 09:19 AM | Correct, past +10 it becomes Epic - and thus has a differant set of rules, only acessable to epic level characters. |
| Tembo07-28-06, 09:43 AM | If this weapon fell in the catergory of "standard" magic weapons, then yes, +10 is the maximum allowable. However, if you are using the weapon as a plot device or something similar then, by all means, (as a DM) do what you have to do! |
