| a4igeek04-16-06, 06:20 PM | I said.. a long while back that I would create a FullBlade that was weldable by a medium creature. There has been so much discussion and the result is that A FullBlade can't be weld by a medium creature. Solution.. make a new weapon! It took sometime but here it is. Weights about half a regular FullBlade. It is welded like a chainsaw and the center of gravity is closer to the hilt making it easier to handle. Requires the EWP. Best of all it has the same damage and length. The actual combat of this lovly weapon is a cross between a bow staff technique and works great in tight corridors as a pointy ram. One Deris Fullblade right next to the Original. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e35/a4igeek/deris_fullblade.gif I would like some feedback. |
| Rentar174304-16-06, 06:50 PM | I just recently discovered that the fulblade is out of date, and was disapointed.I've been looking to use it till then and I hope yours flys because I'll be useing it.Hopefully soon. |
| a4igeek04-16-06, 06:54 PM | Looks nice doesn't it. You can see the two grips at the blade base and the handle. The handle is smaller allowing a medium creature to hold. |
| a4igeek04-18-06, 01:55 AM | I wish my item would get more attention. :( |
| yuenglingdragon04-18-06, 02:20 AM | You might want to adjust the HP of the weapon relative to its big 'ol daddy. The lighter construction and lower cross-sectional strength would make it more susceptible to sundering. Maybe hardness of 10 and 5 HP like a longsword. |
| a4igeek04-18-06, 09:32 PM | Hm.. I don't really know about that. It would equal it out but the cost would set it off. I was thinking 5X more than a regular Fullblade. The design was made for maintaining the damage while making it lighter. The skill to forge this blade is unpresidented to many of the simpler two cutting edge sword. This actually has 4 cutting edges. The design and the skill required to craft such a blade . The hardness would be increased due to the process to make it suitable for combat. Hitpoints would remain the same due to the same materials. . |
| a4igeek04-28-06, 09:31 PM | I need help choosing a material to make make my deris fullblade out of. Something with alot of hardness but average hps and won't add that much weight. |
| CryoSilver04-28-06, 09:35 PM | Tungsten :P |
| Esponer04-28-06, 09:59 PM | This essentially looks like a swordcatcher, although not the most intuitive of designs. I doubt it would be very effective as a two-handed cutting or stabbing sword. |
| CryoSilver04-28-06, 10:23 PM | You can totally stab with that; on more than one occasion, using a fork/spork, my ex girlfriend has demostrated the effectiveness of pronged stabbing implements on me. |
| Tsuul04-29-06, 02:02 AM | Make it out of Unobtainium. |
| Hippokrene04-29-06, 03:28 AM | You can totally stab with that; on more than one occasion, using a fork/spork, my ex girlfriend has demostrated the effectiveness of pronged stabbing implements on me. What the critical range on a fork? Was she monkey gripping a gargantuan sized fork? |
| FlameLover04-29-06, 03:41 AM | What the critical range on a fork? Was she monkey gripping a gargantuan sized fork? Worse. She probably tricked the DM into allowing her Powerful Build Goliath racial trait to stack with Monkey Grip. Any weapon leaves holes when its Colossal. |
| Jerivar04-29-06, 03:51 AM | That blade looks pretty dang cool. I just wish I knew what these details you're all talking about were. |
| a4igeek04-29-06, 10:50 AM | http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e35/a4igeek/deris_fullblade.gif The Deris Fullblade is about 7 feet tall. So if a medium creature is going to carry this it will not fit in a backpack. It must be carried diagonally along the back. It can't be swiftly drawn. Always requires two hands to weld. The actual use of this sword is as follows. One hand acts as a lever as the other hand rests on one of the two guards allowing the blade to be swung. The blade is not balanced but the center of gravity is much closer to the hilt that a regular Fullblade. In close quarters, the Deris Fullblade my be used as a piercing weapon when the blade is held a waist height. The blade is lighter than a Fullblade and greater than a greatsword. The sword was orginally forged by a series of experimenting gnomes in the attempt to create a new better functioning designs for weaponary. Due to the long forging process this blade type has never caught on. To weld this requires the EWP(Fullblade) 2d8 slashing 19-20/x2 or 1d10 piercing no critical cost between 500gp to 1000 gp wieght between 15 to 23 lbs. Material ?? Hardness ?? HP ?? Requires EWP(Fullblade) Only creatures medium and bigger can wield the Deris Fullblade. This is all i got so far.. any more help? |
| Neodymium04-29-06, 12:01 PM | i'd argue that a fullblade by any other(or the same) name is still a fullblade. Appearance and details of function are by no means writ in stone for D&D weapons. I believe what you have on your hands is a masterwork fullblade. The stats would remain the same. Hell you even ADDED piercing damage. I would never allow this weapon in any game i DM. |
| Thorak04-29-06, 12:44 PM | I'd do one of two things with this weapon. Either stat it exactly like a Fullblade, so it's still Large in every way and functionally no different. Or stat it exactly like a Medium greatsword, due to the lighter weight not dealing as powerful a hit. Either/or. What you're trying to do here is break the weapon balance guidelines. They exist for a reason. |
| a4igeek05-01-06, 11:38 PM | Hm... is 2d8 really that much damage?? The piercing can go. That was just a side thought. |
