A friend told me that there is a similar thing in magic item compedium, but my idea is a little diferent.

The idea is a magic weapon with slots, where you can put magical cristal that give the weapon power, without the cristal the weapon is normal, but with they works like a regular magical weapon, but it has more versatility because you can change the cristal to give weapons more usefull powers.

The numbers need and will to change, but I will use as a base the same value of a magical weapon of similar power, and I use those so you can understand what I want to do.

Every magical cristal have prices purely based on multiples, for every +1 bonus that the cristal gives, it costs 1.500 GP, so a cristal that gives +3 bonus costs 4.500 GP

The weapon however is a little diferent, the cost would be base as a regular weapon minus the cost of the cristal to give it full power

So a Cristal weapon +1 costs 500 GP, while a Cr.Weapon +3 costs 13500 GP.

+1: 1500 (Cristal)+500(weapon)=2000
+3: 4500 (Cristals)+13500(weapon)=18000

Cr.Weapons can hold a Cristal for each bonus that gives, so a +3 Cr.Weapon can hold 3 Cristal's, you can feel the weapon with 3 Cristal's that each give +1 of bonus, or a single Cristal that gives +3, or two Cristal's, one that gives +1 and other that gives +2, it is impossible to push the weapon beyond its limits, so you ain't gonna get a +9 if you feel the weapon with 3 Cristal's of +3 bonus (it is more likely that the thing you explode )

The main advantage is that you can have several Cristal's with different powers and change the weapon for the occasion instead of buying new weapons. The same logic will be used to armors

So I guess, I made my logic understood, I want to have the cristals with a fixed price because I think it is better to the math and the balance, while the weapon price gets much more expensive to keep balanced.

Any sugestions?

Changing crystals is a move action, and there is a item in the MiC that gives up to 3 move actions for free per day.

Also your idea is too cheap.

+1 value for 1,500gp?
I can buy a +10 crystal (+5 raw, +5 named) for 15,000gp + your nonsense math making it free instead of the 200,000ish cost normaly.

The weapon however is a little diferent, the cost would be base as a regular weapon minus the cost of the cristal to give it full power

Just go for final fantasy 7 and allow more than one crystal to be attached to a single weapon instead. Then scale that ability as a +1 or +2 value enchantment.

Read it more closely

You might buy those 15.000 GP in crystals, but they are complete worthless unless you buy a weapon that can hold +10 in crystals, that would cost alone 185.000 and it is powerless without the crystals.

Just go for final fantasy 7 and allow more than one crystal to be attached to a single weapon instead. Then scale that ability as a +1 or +2 value enchantment.

Please could you explain it better? I don't think it is what i am looking for

Look here: "My friend said there is a such thing as A, but I'm making A.2" != I have read already existing crystals.

Pointing out prices can change is meaning less. I already assumed without looking the prices would change, else there is no point to your post.

Not based on your current math. Maybe your examples might scale up to that. But your text don't, use the edit button and fix it.

Also, 185k + another 15k = over 200k. Which means your sword is epic (due to price limits).

Please could you explain it better? I don't think it is what i am looking for
No. Use that final fantasy wikipedia (find it via search engines) or from www.gamefaqs.com or something. Listing how the materia system works is a bit more typing than I care to do.

I still stand by my first suggestion.

Hallow [Synergy: Hallow]
<weapon/armor enchantment>
Benefit: You are allowed to attach one more crystal than normal. However, you may only gain the benefit of a single crystal attached this way at a time. You may change which crystal effect to use as an immidate action.
Price: +1 bonus
Special: You can enchant an armor or weapon with this enchantment multiple times, its effects stack. Example, A +1 Hallow(x3) Dagger has the price value of a +4 weapon, and can store up to four crystals at a time.

Also, 185k + another 15k = over 200k.

I am going to take a look in the texts... I am assuming that you are counting the extra price of the weapon itself... because unless, my computer calcultator and my math skill are wrong 185+15= exactly 200, not over.
