| GoofBaali06-25-06, 05:14 AM | A quick question regarding... You guessed right, critical hits and how they function when used against a creature with complete concealment. Can anyone give me a clue as to how to determine critical hits against invisible creatures (or players for that matter). Does concealment grant the 50% miss chance even on a roll of natural 20? or perhaps afford a 50% miss chance on the threat confirmation roll? Thanks |
| Dheran06-25-06, 05:18 AM | There's a 50% miss chance. It's simpler to roll this first, rather than spending the time to roll multiple d20s before finding out that you made a successful critical against the air in your concealed opponent's square. |

A critical roll is not a separate attack, but part of the single hit. You either completely miss or you completely hit. For a comment on concealment and 20s, see PH pg 142: "If the concealment roll indicates a 'miss', just ignore the attack roll". If you're ignoring the attack roll, it doesn't matter whether it was a 20, a 1, or anything in between. |
