The reason I ask is that the "Deepwood Sniper" prestige class from "Masters of the Wild" from the old 3.0 soft cover splat book series has a class ability called "projectile imporved criticical" it improves the ciritcal multiplier by one at 2nd level and again at either 7th. It gives the example of a thowing axe having its critical multiplier improved from 2 to 3 at 2nd level. This works, 2 to 3, and 3 to 4, fine. It also implies that this can be used with thrown weapon, fine. But, now comes the example of an arrow. It says that the arrows critical multiplier would be improved from its regualr x3 to x4 at second level, but then what happens at 7th level, either it goes to x5 or nothing happens or what? (hell, a 1d2 x5 weapon is still broken. think burst and youll see why. lol) |
| d_nychus09-25-05, 05:36 PM | The highest LISTED critical multiplier is x4 (scythe and other such weapons), but there is no cap on multipliers. A deepwood sniper's arrows can be x5. |

| Colmarr09-26-05, 03:48 AM | The Sprited Charge feat allows a mounted creature cause triple damage with a lance on a charge. The "triple damage" replaces the usual "double damage" that a lance does on a charge. A lance has a critical modifier of x3. So the damage of a creature with a lance who inflicts a critical hit whilst making a spirited charge is x3 (spirited charge) x3 (critical hit). In D&D math, x3 x3 = x5. (Think of it as "adding" a multiplier for each digit above one. x3 x2 = x4 x2 x5 = x6 etc) |
