Valgaav, keep out!!

I'm designing this legacy item for my druid character. The story behind it is that, when she was young, her wolf animal companion sacrificed his life for her by jumping in the way of an arrow. Before she burried him, she took one of his bones and made a pendant out of it, which she later had enchanted into a Periapt of Wisdom +2. The spirit of her companion, Bordin, lives on in the Periapt.

Bordin's Periapt
Nonlegacy Game Statistics: Periapt of Wisdom +2 (4,000 g)
Omen: When the periapt is put on, wearer hears a wolf's howl, which is telepathic.

Boradin's Soul: At 5th level, the wearer of Boradin's Periapt makes contact with the spirit of the wolf. The Periapt is treated as an inteligent item with Int 10, Wis 13, Cha 13, and vision and sight to 60'. It communicates empathicaly with the wearer and may activate any power it posesses independantly of the wearer.

Boradin's Sense: At 6th level, the wearer of Boradin's Periapt gains a +5 bonus to all Sense Motive checks.

Boradin's Bravery: Beginning at 7th level, the wearer of Boradin's Periapt may utter a command word once a day to use Protection From Arrows as the spell (caster level 5th). Alternately, Boradin's soul may activate this power.

Boradin's Gift: At 8th level and above, the wearer of Boradin's Periapt may utter a command word to cast Cure Light Wounds on herself, an ally, or an enemy as a 5th level touch spell. Boradin's soul may activate this ability seperately from the wearer.

Boradin's Spirit, Lesser: When the wielder of Boradin's Periapt reaches 10th level, the bond between the wearer and the spirit becomes strong enough to allow the spirit to leave the Periapt for brief periods while still being bonded to it. Once a day, the wearer of the periapt may call forth the spirit for 10 rounds. The spirit manifests as a Ghost Brute Wolf with the slavering doom special attack and the Ghostly Grasp feat (instead of the standard weapon focus(bite)). This is the same spirit that resides in the periapt normally, so any information that it gains while seperated from the party is available later as empathic advice to the wielder.

Boradin's Cunning: At 13th level, the spirit's alertness grants the wearer a greater ability to avoid danger. The wearer of Boradin's Periapt is never flat-footed.

Boradin's Spirit, Greater: At 16th level, the strength of the bond between the wolf and the wielder is such that the wolf may leave the periapt at will, for unlimited lengths of time. Otherwise, this works exactly as Boradin's Spirit, Lesser.

Boradin's Wish: At 20th level, Boradin's spirit confers its greatest gift. The wielder of Boradin's Periapt heals one point of damage every hour rather than every day, and may regrow lost body parts as though wearing a Ring of Regeneration.

I know I still need to flesh out the backstory and the rituals and stuff, but so far, what do you think?

So I thinks to myself, I thinks, 'Self, if the only thing that shows up on the main page is 'Valgaav, keep out', and there's no replies or anything, people aren't going to look at the thread.' And I thinks some more, and I thinks 'I should do something about that.' So I did.

Seems decent, but like you said you need to make the rituals and what the abilities of the item do. With out those this thing is useless.

As I understand it, the rituals are mostly fluff. I'm working on them and the backstory together.

As to what the abilities do, if you scroll over in the code box they're there in parentheses after the name of each ability.

I realize that, but not everyone is going to understand that. I couldn't understand a couple of things I think...... Still it would be useful

I like it so far. I love the whole spiritual thing, and the abilites you get are kinda kool.

I'll give it a reformat, then. :P

Here's a thought.

Would it be balanced to take out Boradin's Gift (1/day cure light) and instead allow the wielder to use their existing Summon Nature's Ally III spells to summon Boradin? It'd effectively change Boradin's Spirit, Lesser so that it'd give you an extra use per day of Summon Nature's Ally III.
