This might sound a little outlandish, and I'm not even sure whether it is legal or not, but, can you have the "mighty" quality placed on a crossbow? It would make since if you could, it's just how tight the bowstring is on the weapon.
Now, lets say you have a +2 crossbow, mighty +3. And then you have the "Quickloading" enhancement placed on it. Once a fighter hits level 16, would he be able to fire a four round burst from his +2 mighty+3 light crossbow, each bolt able to inflict 1d8+3 damage?
If so, what keeps a person from getting a +5 mighty+X (where x is whatever possible strength a character could have) and end up firing four bolts from the said cross bow with each bolt inflicting 1d8+(5+x) damage.
Someone stop me before I turn my crossbow into a submachine gun.

no. it isn't possible. generally speaking, your strength is irrelevant when cranking a crossbow in D&D. in fact, the only way your strength affects the use of a crossbow is if the crossbow happens to encumber you (or if you have a strength of 0 or - , i suppose).
