Often one attack is not enough to destroy it, multiple attacks are needed, each doing some damage. Better material/quality helps a lot because there are fewer weak points, and they have more strength to resist the damage. Break DC. This is a slow tension attack agaainst an object using limited force at the entire object, designed to eventually break it at the weak point. Here you are tring to slowly bend it out of shape. Often multiple attempts are needed, but the attempts have no partial success, they do no damage unless they succeed in breaking it entirely. Better material/quality helps a little, because they have more strength to resist the damage. Save DC. This is a sudden sharp attack against an object using unaimed MASSIVE force. Here no attempt to hit the weak spot is made, as the force itself is big enough to destroy the object entirely. Only one attempt is needed, the attempts have no partial success, but it usually has other limitations, such as x/day, or requiring extensive preparation work first. Better material/quality helps very little, as the force is so much stronger it is not a significant relative increase. (Distingrate, Rust attacks, for example). The Crush Item is a Save DC, because the Nightwalker is extra strong and has a special power that lets him destroy weapons so thoroughly. It is not "break", not "sunder", but CRUSH. It is balanced by requiring him to first disarm you, then crush it as a standard Action (I.E. it takes a minimum of two rounds). You should be attempting to disarm him before he succeeds. |
