| lordsloth05-14-05, 12:34 PM | since it's magic i would assume it dissipates in an AM field. I'm not a rules lawyer though, so i may be wrong. |

So you don't have line of effect through them, so without burrowing spell, you can't send spells through the walls, including summoning spells (this is assuming you have it set to not allow magic through). Also, Anti-magic field doesn't bring down the walls, and if set to not allow magic through, then it's effect won't reach the cube, so you'd be fine. However, bringing up an anti-magic field within the cube would cancel it. If you don't have the cube set to either not allow magic or not allow anything, then magic effects can pass through without a problem. Only the things that the specific setting is set for won't pass through. |
| Kurama Youko05-15-05, 03:25 PM | Okay, im having a hard time understand how this item is preventing me from summoning a monster outside the cubes area. Is it antimagic? Sure I understand its not allow anything to pass through it, if i set it on that level. But Im summoning from within it, to bring a monster beyond it. Im not just trying to convence myself I trying to see what exactly is possible with the cube. |
| Xerxes05-16-05, 01:00 PM | In the description of the Cube of Force, the second table shows what spells cannot pass through the wall of force and how many charges it drains in order to withstand the effects of the spell in order to maintain the integrity of the wall. Disintegrate and prismatic spray are two of those spells. As to summoning outside the wall itself, I believe we can simply this just a bit... The Cube of Force has a specific button that activates a wall that keeps magic out. Now, this means that if that wall (or the ultimate 'keep everything out' wall) is not active, I can see most any spell entering and exiting the walls created by the Cube of Force. If the magic wall or the ultimate wall are active, then I doubt you could even summon outside the wall while it is active. You are essentially portalling creatures to the location you provide. So if the wall is preventing magic from leaving it, I cannot see you being able to create that portal outside of the walls of the Cube. Then, what of the other spells? Would Fireball pass through the wall? I would say it would, unless the magic or "ultimate" wall is active. Nothing it says in the description says that such spells won't pass through. Final answer... Unless the Magic wall or the "Ultimate" wall is active, you can cast out of the Cube of Force. |
