| KavonRa04-28-07, 07:21 PM | One of my players has been playing a Rogue/ranger for 6 months now. His weapon of choice : dual shortswords. During the last session one of his shortswords broke and he took that as a sign to try something new. After the session he came to me and asked me if he could design his own weapon. I told him to check the books we have and i would only ok a new weapon if he could give me a good reason to allow it. Today he gave me his new design and a very good reason but i though i should run it past the forum just to be sure. Ninja-To Variant (Exotic weapon) 2handed-weapon 1d8(m) 19-20/x2 Slashing/Piercing special: can be used with the weapon finesse feat. special: Player must choose slashing or piercing before each attack. The player's argument is that there are no 2handed/dex based weapons. He focused my attention on the fact that some "movie-ninjas" seem to be wielding katanas or ninja-tos with 2 hands while using a clear dex-base attack style. At first glance i see no problem with this weapon.I told the player i would look into it and give my awnser asap. Its true that some ninjas use a fightstyle that could be considered DEX-based in d&d terms and they also use either dual wielding weapons or a 2handed weapon. Any thoughts or comments? (thx in advance) |
| SD04-28-07, 07:49 PM | Races of the Wild: elven courtblade. Two-handed, exotic, 1d10/18-20, slashing, finesse-ready. Complete Warrior: elven thinblade. One-handed, exotic, 1d8/18-20, piercing, finesse-ready. As those are accepted by WotC, I'd accept this player's weapon as a martial weapon. Heck, I'd accept it one-handed and martial, but that's just the kind of guy I am. |
