Hi, I was hoping for a little bit of input from the boards here on how much you'd estimate this item to be worth. It was found as loot by my Warforged Archivist 11/Divine Oracle 1 in an Eberron campaign session last week. It was made up by my DM.

Warforged component: +1 Arm Cannon. Fires equivalent of sling bullets for 1d12+1+(1/2 character level) Bludgeoning magic damage, x2 crit, 120 foot range increment. Reload is full-round action that provokes AoOs.

The cannon actually replaced my left forearm, but the DM has ruled that once I get back to a big city, I can add functional fingers on it for a price.

The kicker here is the extra 1/2 character level damage, I really don't know how to estimate that. Can anyone come up with an idea of how much an item would cost if purchased/crafted? Or the cost of adding fingers? And can anyone think of ways I can use this item to it's fullest? Casting divine power is the best I could come up with.

Thanks!

Really not all that sure how to price it, but then I'm not sure I would sell it. On a side note, have you considered painting your warforged a nice deep blue?

Just kidding. If I had to guestimate, I'd peg it around 3k w/o the 1/2 ECL damage thing, prolly another 1-2k for that. Adding fingers I can't see being very expensive, maybe 1k at most.

Just some quick math for ya, if it helps:

At lvl 12 it'd be doing 1d12+7 damage. If you have a modifier of +2d6 damage to each roll, 7 will come up most often, so adding 7 straight damage is about the same as adding 2d6.

At lvl 20: +11, 10 or 11 is the mode for 3d6, I think.

Since it'll stay between 2d6 and 3d6 damage, maybe find two weapons with those and take the average for the price? I only have my 3.0 DMG with me, but if we go by the Weapon Price table in the magic items chapter, +2d6 would be 8,000 and 3d6 would be 18,000, so I'd rule that your item would cost 13,000 to create.

Fingers, I don't know.

Thanks you two, your input's very much appreciated. The scaling damage of the cannon still irks me though; it's power corresponds to the user, and besides staffs and runestaffs I don't think any other item has a similar effect.

How this: What gold amount or what +(#) bonus would you set a weapon enchantment that adds 1/2 character level damage to your weapon, scaling with level?

I seem to remember someone talking about a feat that allowed warforged to shoot energy blasts out of their arms. I'm sorry that this isn't terribly helpful, but if you found it, you could use the feat.
