ok i was looking at the item sets in magic item compendium, and to be honest they seem sorta weak, so does a monk in comparison to some classes. so here my goal is to rectify both

i believe it would be a 4 items set
monks belt, but id like to improve the monks belt

a monk style robe wed have to make a new item

and maybe bracers of deflection (new item i designed)

and turn boots of sprining and striding into sandals of springing and striding

bracers of deflection, once per round when a melee or ranged weapon would hit you, you may make a reflex save of 20 to block the attack. this item does not take damage from blocking weapons, also it can not block magic spells or brilliant energy weapons. it the weapon striking u has an enhancement bonus, increase the reflex save ona 1 for 1 basis

my idea for improved monks belt would be to also give you the abilities of the belt of ultimate athleticism, but only on tumble, balance and jump checks

robe could give you a saving throw bonus or the saving throw bonus of a monk 3 levels higher

synergy with 2 items you are also considered 5 levels higher for speed bonus and stunning fist

synergy with all 3 would give you the synergy of 2 plus the ability of mettle

synergy of all 4 would give the abilities of 2 and 3 and in addition, your unarmed strikes now have the speed special ability and your unarmored speed increases by 20ft

i know it wold be an sorta expensive set, but what do u guys think? and what should the prices be, i was thinking if this set had 1 more item the 5 part synergy would give improved mettle and maybe something else

so current items in set and possible cost

monk's belt of ultimate athleticism 19000
all abilities of monk's belt + belt of ultimate athleticism for tumble, jump and balance only

monks robe version 1 18000
fro non monks give you +2 on all saving throws
for monk treated as a monk 3 levels higher for saving throws

monk robe V 2 30000
for non monks +3 on all saving throws
for monks teated as 5 levels higher for saving throws

bracers of deflection 36000
once per round when a melee or ranged weapon would hit you, you may make a reflex save of 20 to block the attack. this item does not take damage from blocking weapons, also it can not block magic spells or brilliant energy weapons. it the weapon striking u has an enhancement bonus, increase the reflex save ona 1 for 1 basis

sandals of springing and striding, same as boots of springing and striding

Well, when creating a set for Monks, look at the items already used by them.

Monks Belt is one
Gauntlets of the Talon (Relic) is another
Ki Gloves.
Amulet of Mighty Fists or Natural Weapons (Depends upon which Monk)

The Monks Belt and Gauntlets of the Talon both Boost your Monk Level (By 5 each and they stack as well as adding a few other effects)

Ki Gloves boost your Stunning ability and the Amulet lets your unarmed attacks gain magical properties.

Now, there is one major thing that Monks do not gain the ability to do which is an ability to deal with flying foes. So perhaps a pair of Sandals that grant Air Walk or the like.

I believe that in one of the manuals there is a robe that grants a +9 magical AC and the ability to cast a Wall of Blades spell....description is a black robe with a beautiful waterfall pattern of adamantine threads woven into it. Since it's not armour, you'd think it couldn't be enchanted with armour enchantments, but obviously you can.

A rood idea for the Monk 'torso' area would be a black silk sarong or robe that grants +4 to AC (As per the Mage Armour spell) and also has the Shadow, Slick and Silent Moves enchantments on it.

For the Head, if you want to move blindingly fast and have a secondary natural attack up your sleeves, a Horned Helm from page 133 in the "Arms and Equipment Guide" doubles your base land speed.

There are also the 4 Monk Items mentioned in the 'Class Acts' section of "Dragon #325" on page 98, the Sai of the Hornet, Bands of the Iron Monkey, Obi of the White Lotus Master and Staff of the Crushing Breeze.

Amulet of Natural Attacks from the Savage Species allows you to add the Impact abilities to your unarmed strikes, and personal favourite enchantments of mine are the Speed (Super Flurry attaaaaaaaaaaack!), Truebane (From "Dragon #345"...this is the single most important enchantment for Rangers, btw. Do Bane damage against EVERYTHING!!!!) and Force, for dealing with those pesky Mage Armour spells and equipment that projects force AC effects! Don't go writers-block on us, don't make it out of animal bones and such, have it made of out metal prayer beads interspaced with ones of ivory or polished bone.

Boots...Sandals of Springing and Striding, as you've said, but Slippers of Spider Climbing are also good, and Slippers of the Sea (Boots of the Sea) will make your Monk all the more impressive as she walks gracefully over the water...just don't tell the other players what they are, and they'll go balistic over that 'unreal balance check'!

Monks can't do their unarmed damage through gauntlets, and gloves cannot be enhanced as weapons either, so unless you're going for Gloves of Arrow Snatching or Gloves of Climbing and Swimming, you're going to be in a little bit of trouble there...Nekodes (Tiger Claws from the "Arms and Equipment Guide" grant a +1 to your Climb skill as well as being a non-disarmable weapon that fits over your hand like a glove with the spikes on the inside of your palm, or at least that's how the book describes them) make for handy weapons and tools, and since a monk can make her Unarmed Attacks with any part of her body, you're not losing any damage.

Can't think of any more...anyone else?

ok revised monk item set
this is going along with magic item compendium sets which grants bonus abilities

4 items tops, i dont want this set to cost over 100k

bracers of deflection
once per round when a melee or ranged weapon would hit you, you may make a reflex save of 20 to block the attack. this item does not take damage from blocking weapons, also it can not block magic spells or brilliant energy weapons. it the weapon striking u has an enhancement bonus, increase the reflex save on a 1 for 1 basis

turn boots of sprining and striding into sandals of springing and striding

monk's belt of ultimate athleticism
all abilities of monk's belt + belt of ultimate athleticism for tumble, jump and balance only

prayer beads of unarmed strike
same as Amulet of Natural Attacks from the Savage Species

and instead of bracers maybe
monk robe
for non monks +3 on all saving throws
for monks teated as 5 levels higher for saving throws

some synergy would only work for monks
synergy with 2 items you are also considered 5 levels higher for speed bonus and a plus 5 on tumble, jump and balance checks

synergy with all 3 would give you the synergy of 2 plus the ability of mettle

synergy of all 4 would give the abilities of 2 and 3 and in addition, your unarmored speed increases by 20ft and your stunning fist is treated as if you were a monk 5 levels higher
also wou may airwalk at will as the spell

i know it wold be an sorta expensive set, but what do u guys think? and what should the prices be, i was thinking if this set had 1 more item the 5 part synergy would give improved mettle and maybe something else
