I'm playing a 13th level assassin and have been trying to come up with some creative ways to make my character more effective against certain types of opponents.

My DM has allowed me to create several "custom poison sheaths/daggers" that automatically apply a dose of poison to the dagger when sheathed. None of these daggers have yet been enchanted, and I've been thinking about what would make them the most useful.

From the point of view of fighting a magic user, I suppose the worst bane to a poison user would be the spells: Neutralize Poison, Restoration, and Heal, in terms of negating/restoring ability damage. It's a real pain to attack a wizard/cleric with your expensive poison only to realize that neutralize poison has been cast on him. So, to make certain that Neutralize Poison won't get in the way, I had thought of enchanting one of the daggers with Spell Storing, and a Dispel Magic spell. I had also thought of applying an Int (or Wis)-damaging poison to the same dagger to reduce his ability to cast higher level spells. Or perhaps a Con-based poison first, to reduce his Fortitude Save to subsequent poisons.

My question here is: If I were to attack a character with this weapon and dealt damage, would I be able to activate Dispel Magic before considering poison damage? Or would the poison be neutralized before I could Dispel the protection?

Thanks!

Don't know the answer to your question, but I've got some other suggestions for your rogues weapons:

Augment Crystals from MIC is an effective way to make your weapon very versatile, since you can change them in no time at all.
- Demolition Crystal makes constructs vulnerable to your sneak attacks and more
- Truedeath Crystal does the same thing, but against undead and more

Also Magebane weapon property gives a weapon +2 extra bonus to enchantment and +2d6 extra damage vs. arcane spellcasters and it's only +1 price modifier!

Thanks j3st3r, augment crystals are something that I didn't consider at all!

Magebane would also be a great weapon enhancement. Surprisingly, while looking it up in the MIC I also came across the enhancement "Dispel" that allows Dispel Magic to be cast 3/day through the weapon. Although that makes it a bit easier to add the enhancement to my daggers, I still don't know if I can activate it before applying the poison damage.

Also take a look at binding (MIC page 29) it has a chance to stop things for using dimension door and other type of movement spells.
