| SaintSoldier04-27-06, 06:47 PM | Is a cutlass a light weapon? I know it's a martial weapon, but is it also light, medium, or heavy? Thanks. |
| Verelor04-27-06, 08:06 PM | A cutlass is identical to a scimitar. A scimitar is a one-handed weapon. So is a cutlass. :) |
| Jaeron Dalur04-27-06, 08:20 PM | The thought of classifying the cutlass as the same weapon as the saber-like scimitar in DnD always struck me as wrong. A cutlass is supposed to be short and light enough to be both a tool and a weapon aboard a ship. Anything even close to a cavalry sword would get caught in/cut the lines and would be useless as a tool. I always thought a shortsword with slashing damage instead of peircing was closest. |
| Rulebook04-27-06, 09:29 PM | i own a cutlass. belive me, there more like cavalry sabers than short swords. |
| pres_man04-27-06, 09:30 PM | yeah, I think the shortsword but with slashing instead of piercing is usually how you see it stat'ed. On the other hand, I use "machete", which I made as basically a sickle without the trip and is a simple weapon. Machete (M): 1d6/x2 Slashing (simple light melee weapon) |

| Sunrider04-28-06, 07:19 AM | A cutlass is identical to a scimitar. A scimitar is a one-handed weapon. So is a cutlass. :) Eh... no... Cutlass is a light, 1d6 19-20/x2 P/S martial weapon, with a +2 bonus on rolls to avoid being disarmed. |
| Rulebook04-28-06, 07:29 AM | heh, i need to talk to my friend and get the pictures of me wrecking a car with my cutlass. theres a really good picture in there of all our swords just sticking out of the car, and a video of me smashing one of the windows (surprisingly easy) |
| RaspK FOG04-28-06, 12:23 PM | I will have to side with Sunrider. |
