Hi folks,

I am looking at the case when a frightened horse might by accident overrun and trample a person (medium size) on its path. A party of 10 riders will be travelling through a forest trail and will encounter some beasts that might end up frightening the mounts more than the party members. And, the mounts seem to become as much a threat as the beasts.

What I need to know is Save Reflex DC to avoid beeing overruned, trampled, and or tripped, possible attack bonuses (or penalties, as the mounts are not beeing redirected to attack, they just want to pass by) for the mounts, possible damage due to the accidental attack, and so on. The mounts might try to pass through a space occupied by a person (who has fallen from his mount) and through a space occupied by a horse ad rider. Suggestions to rules and good reading?

In the section OVERRUN, in the PHB 3.0, page 139, it is stated that it is always possible to move through the space of another person, if that other person lets you through. I imagine, that my case, is kind of "yes, you would like to let the horse pass by, but then, you have failed with bla bla bla and bla bla bla ...".
I have the PHB 3.0, DMG 3.0, MM 3.0 and the Sword and Fist accessory. At the moment, I am searching in these books for the appropiate rules ... But, I would also like to have some help to the above situation.

Best regards,

Just handle the overrun as normal. The rider isn't in control so Trample wouldn't apply; therefore, the target of the overrun can choose to avoid as normal.
