| Tetsubo01-05-07, 08:50 AM | Has there been any official or unofficial biotech designed for the 3.5 D&D rules? I'm looking for something akin to the 2E Dark Sun Halflings had. Not just possible body grafts but weapons, armour, generic items, mounts, etc. Has this been done anywhere? TIA. |
| tarkin01-05-07, 10:11 AM | They have an entire 1/2 Golem system, which if you do too much, you lose your mind, becoming a construct. Also, some of the Dragon Magazines had a bunch of Simbiotic life forms you could infect yourself with (or be infected with by others). |
| RavenDrake01-05-07, 10:39 AM | There are also a variety of demonic grafts that can be applied to your character(some in BovD, others here and there). |
| lint trap01-05-07, 10:54 AM | There's been quite alot of "biotech" for 3.5, actually. Here's some sources, in no particular order. Fiend Folio, p. 207 - This section introduces both grafts and symbiotics. Grafts are modifications to a living creature, made by adding or replacing parts. They usually involve aberrations, constructs, fiends, or undead. Symbionts are aberrations, fiendish creatures, or undead that grand special powers and managable drawbacks. Lords of Madness, p. 215 - Adds some more aberration grafts, including the popular and slightly less creepy Silthilar Grafts. Libris Mortis, p. 79 - More undead grafts. Eberron Campaign Setting, p. 298 - Three more symbionts, all aberrations. Magic of Eberron, p. 127, 153 - Twenty-five new grafts, using three new graft types: Deathless, Elemental, and Plant. Seven more symbionts. And finally, if you really want more biotech, I'd suggest looking at d20 Modern. Specifically, d20 Future has many chapters you might find interesting. Chapter 5 introduces Gene Therapy Templates, Chapter 11 deals with cybernetics, and Chapter 12 has a mechanic or aquiring mutations (with both benefits and drawbacks). |
| Purple Yin01-05-07, 11:12 AM | MMIV has a race that designs new monsters and sells them to other races (somewhere at the back of the book.) also in Sandstorm there's a new skill- spawncrafting that is like alchemy at low levels and is used to brew bacterial broths called 'zymes, and at high levels was used to create a race of desert monsters, but the rules of the skill were never given (only that you need so many ranks to make a zyme, and it was also used to make these monsters). |
| Deekin01-05-07, 12:09 PM | d20 Cyberscape, an Expansion Book for d20 Future, has a Chapter on Alternate Cybernetics, which includes Bio-tech, Nano-tech, Necrotics, and Golem-tech. |
| IceFractal01-05-07, 05:44 PM | Not official, but the Aberration Home Shopping Network (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=724027) thread has lots of biotech, among other things. |
| Tordek01-05-07, 06:41 PM | There's also 'Chaositech', for some super-crazy and creepy items. |
| Neutronium_Dragon01-05-07, 07:14 PM | There're also warforged grafts in Faiths of Eberron. While they're more tech than bio in theme, they're still composed of semi-organic components. |
| zzakk2to201-06-07, 03:27 PM | Races of Dragons has draconic grafts. |
| HarlequinHelsing01-06-07, 03:57 PM | The Aberration Home Shopping Network has all sorts of bio-gear. Weapons, armor, remote sensors, pretty much everything you want could be found at the AHSN. And if it can't, request it. We'll get working on it right away. My sig has a link to it. Darn, it would appear someone beat me to it. |
| Grug the Just01-06-07, 05:06 PM | January Issue of Dragon Magazine had a article for Magical Technological grafts in the class section near the back. Interesting stuff. |
| Fleshwarping01-06-07, 05:21 PM | There's been quite alot of "biotech" for 3.5, actually. Here's some sources, in no particular order. That's a great list. There's also some of the psychic warrior powers like Graft Weapon in Expanded Psionics handbook. The fleshwarper prestige class in Lords of Madness specializes in grafts. The effigy master prestige class in Complete Arcane specializes in building "effigy creatures," which are probably good as biotech mounts and such. |
| forrestfire1501-07-07, 04:54 PM | dragon #318 has pirate grafts (such as peglegs, hook hands, and magic eyes) |
| Purple Yin01-07-07, 06:21 PM | lol |
