| T.D.S09-08-05, 11:09 AM | We have a Paladin in our party that found a Holy Avenger +5. What I would like to know is what the +5 is for? Is it a +5 to hit, or a +5 to damage, or both? Is it only for Evil Creatures? I have looked in the DM's Guide, but I could not find anything on it. Would someone point me in the right direction, please! Thanks!! |
| Sir Knight09-08-05, 11:16 AM | The +5 enhancement bonus applies both to Attack and Damage rolls. |
| Edymnion09-08-05, 11:21 AM | The +5 is to damage and attack, to anybody. The sword has extra powers when in the hands of a Paladin. Look in the DMG in the magic weapons section, the information is all there. |
| Elendur09-08-05, 11:40 AM | The standard holy avenger reads thusly: Holy Avenger: This +2 cold iron longsword becomes a +5 holy cold iron longsword in the hands of a paladin. It provides spell resistance of 5 + the paladin’s level to the wielder and anyone adjacent to her. It also enables the wielder to use greater dispel magic (once per round as a standard action) at the class level of the paladin. (Only the area dispel is possible, not the targeted dispel or counterspell versions of greater dispel magic.) Strong abjuration; CL 18th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, holy aura, creator must be good; Price 120,630 gp; Cost 60,630 gp + 4,800 XP. |
