Has anyone tried to put this into their campaigns, such as to represent the "good old forgotten highly advanced tech city buried 500 feet underground" ?

If so, how did that work out ?

The only real issue you'd have is converting the Tactical Armor tabels, and properly balencing firearms with other weapons.

I mean, your typical .44 Magnum in D20 Modern deals a considerable 2d10 damage a shot; That's insane compared to even the Greatbow's damage.

Now, if you want the tech in such a scenerio to be rare, but undeniably more powerful then readiyl avialbae sharp metal sticks, no real conversion is really required beyond making them exceedingly rare and hard to 'feed'.

i think with a gun like that no skills should apply (ie str) because its not affecting it...unless you consider that maybe int. because you need to aim...but my personal opinion is that with a gun there should be no add ons, because it makes no sense of how they would work

You treat a gun just like you do a Bow. Dex to Hit.

Most feats are applicable to both as well; with some relaod feats for Crossbows.

You need to keep reading Mr. SRD and Ms. MSRD.

I've had one modern character transported to Faerun. She's a Strong Hero/Helix Warrior with martial arts training who used staff and gun back home. Now that she's had time to acclimate, Mr. pistol stays in the holster, and the mighty composite longbow does more damage (2D8 for the gun, and D8 +5 for the bow. The .45 is superior to loocal equipment when you need a small (semi) concealable weapon, though. Other hi-tech equipment has been useful as long as it lasts. The stainless steel has been sold for a pretty penny to the dwarves, while the calculator was used to give the various mathematical tables--log, trig functions, etc--so that when it dies, they are still available.
So far, it's worked out nicely--lots of fun getting acclimated--but how it would work out if lots of the stuff was around, I'm not sure
