| The_Sentin3l10-22-07, 12:02 PM | Now, I don't know if someone has done something like this before, but if they have, all links will be greatly appreciated. Now, this is the first time I've done something like this, so I apologize in advance if it's really crappy. All comments are welcomed. Dagger Bandolier Price: 25gp Body Slot: Torso Weight: 2lbs These two strands of thick leather wrap around the torso of a user, with dagger sheaths at alternating places on the front, with two large buckles on the rear. This bandolier holds enough sheaths for 10 daggers. Drawing one of these daggers is a free action if you have the quick draw feat, or a move if you don't. To remove or secure a bandolier is a standard action that provokes an attack of opportunity. These are greatly prized by Master Throwers, who can pull one out of a bag of holding or Heward's Handy Haversack, secure it, and be back in the fight the next round, rather than having to resort to other means after running out of daggers. Bandolier of Infinite Blades Price (Item level): 8,000gp (11th) Body slot: Torso Caster Level: 12th Aura: Strong; (DC 21) conjuration, divination Activation: - / swift (mental) Weight: 2lbs A cross between a standard bandolier and a Gauntlet of Infinite Blades, this bandolier never runs out of daggers. Ever. Though once removed from their sheaves, they turn to dust after 2 rounds. The bandolier also has 3 charges, which are replenished each morning at dawn. Using one or more charge creates a more potent dagger than normal, as described below. Unless specified, these charges apply to all daggers drawn that round. 1 charge: +1 Daggers 2 charges: +1 Bane (Choose type and subtype) Daggers 3 Charges 1 +2 Bane Dagger, which overcomes all damage reduction types. Prerequisites: Craft magic arms and Armours, Craft Wonderous Item, Greater Magic Weapon, Major Creation, Summon Monster 1, True Seeing Cost to create: 4,000gp, 275 XP, 8 days Both bandoliers can magically enhanced with enchantments that, when applied to magical weapons, transfer the enhancment on to their ammunition. Normal bandoliers must be masterworked (+300gp) before enhancments can be applied. Gauntlets of Infinite Blades, Greater Price (Item level): 8,000gp (11th) Body slot: Hands Caster Level: 12th Aura: Strong; (DC 21) conjuration, divination Activation: Free (Mental) / swift (mental) Weight: 2lbs These resemble Gauntlets of Infinite Blades, though overly ornate. These gauntlets function exactly the same as normal Gauntlets of Infinite Blades, apart from the fact that putting a dagger in your hand is a free action, rather than a swift one. They become far more potent, however, when coupled with a Bandolier of Infinite Blades. Upon such a coupling, the gauntlets produce daggers at the same rate you draw them from the Bandolier, allowing you to put 2 daggers in to your hand each round. The gauntlets also have 3 charges, which are replenished each morning at dawn. Using one or more charge creates a more potent dagger than normal, as described below. Unless specified, these charges apply to all daggers created that round. 1 charge: +1 Daggers 2 charges: +1 Bane (Choose type and subtype) Daggers 3 Charges 1 +2 Bane Dagger, which overcomes all damage reduction types. Cost to create: 4,000gp, 275 XP, 8 days Just like the bandoliers, the gauntlets can be enhanced with magical proporties that normally, when applied to bows or the like, transfer the enhancment to the ammunition. Thankyou. |
| Hsien10-22-07, 01:44 PM | Used that for a long time. My current MT uses them but my DM has never forced me to speck it out that way and it holds 20 daggers. I seperate them by type, normal, normal/magical (only have a few +1 now ), silver, cold iron etc... The Inifinite Bandolier is nice although here are a few things to consider. I'm not sure I'd go with the magical enhancement aspect, I'd need more research on that. Besides the Keen Scabbard I'm not familar with an weapons holder transferring magical enhancements. Check the Magic Item Compen; most items in there seem to be based around a 3 charge ratio, iirc, which may be better to emulate. The abilities seem kind of off as the Bane and Explosive enhancements seem unbalanced. Why 3 daggers? Why not have it include all daggers pulled that round and the extra enhancement only lasts for that round. "When these charges are used they help daggers overcome the Damage Reduction of thier opponents." 1 Charge; +1 Dagger 2 Charge; +1 Special Metal (cold iron, silver, or adam ) 3 Charge; +1 Special Metal and Special Alignment (Law, Chaos, Good or Evil) |
| Daiben10-23-07, 11:54 AM | daggers typically average 16-18" in length so wearing 10 - 20 of them may be pushing the realms of the boundries of "we can do this because there are no specific rules preventing it". Then again we're talking about a game that actually allows people to use daggers as effective throwing weapons so it's not really stretching things too far  |
| CryoSilver10-23-07, 05:35 PM | Ten, maybe. They can overlap a bit if you overlap the guards a bit, and draw from the top dagger down. Then you can have another bandolier underneath, which would be covered by the first until all those daggers were thrown. It's stunning how much stuff can be carried on the chest. I play paintball, and it isn't unusual for me to carry my main gun, a secondary gun and 8 tubes of paint, which are bigger than daggers, in addition to paint grenades and assorted tools. |
| The_Sentin3l10-29-07, 03:56 AM | :bump: and edited the daggers AND added Greater Gauntlest of Infinite Blades. Enjoy. |
| Catsnightmare10-29-07, 08:29 PM | Here's two examples that GM's have given two of my characters in previous campaigns. Appologies for the lack of stats, but these are from memory from a game over 4 years ago. Vest Of Daggers Price: ? Body Slot: torso This open, finely made leather vest functions like a limited Hewards Haversack, it magically holds and conceals up to 12 daggers. The daggers are undetectable by physical search and only the wearer can sheath or draw a dagger from within it. Whenever the wearer reaches into the vest to draw a dagger, whichever dagger the wearer wants is the one in hand. The vest automatically sizes itself to it's wearer. Functions according to standard weapon draw rules. Quick Draw Bandoleer Price: ? Body Slot: torso A uniquely designed masterwork (non-magical) leather adjustable bandoleer that holds 6 throwing knives. The bandoleer has been custom designed to hold throwing daggers in such a way that allows the wearer (once they've mastered it) to draw and immediately throw a dagger as if they had the Quickdraw feat but with a -2 to hit penalty to the attack. However if the wearer already has the Quickdraw feat it instead allows the user to make one additional thrown dagger attack at the highest attack bonus. But all attacks that round must be thrown daggers and all are at -2 to hit. Honestly I haven't the slightest clue on how to fair pricing for either would work. |

Are you suggesting that daggers cannot be used as effective throwing weapons IRL? If so, whatever gives you such an idea? |
