Could someone tell me which source book has stats for a throwing dagger?

The PHB? The standard dagger is both a melee *and* a ranged weapon. Range increment 10 feet.

I think the stats are different for a throwing dagger. We just ran a adventure that listed +2 throwing daggers.

That sounds like magical +2 daggers of Throwing (which is a magical ability listed in the DMG).

However, the Throwing ability would grant no advantage to a dagger since it already can be thrown with a range increment of 10'.

PHB Man! there is no throwing dagger in 3.5 other than the home-brew one i just made.

I think the range of the dagger (PHB) is a little weak though, I mean i got a couple of throwing knives and i can hit a paper lunch bag from 15 paces (And no i'm not 5' 1'').

Thus I Prepose a new weapon The THROWING DAGGER

Throwing dagger:
Cost: 15Gp (Medium)
Damage small: 1d2
Damage Medium: 1d3
Critical: X3
Range: 15 (10 with no proficiency, 15 with proficiency, 20 with weapon focus)
weight Lb: .5
Type or damage: piercing
Special: A throwing dagger is a extremely small weapon and as such anybody
trying to make a melee attack with one takes a -4 to the attack. the weapon is broken on a natural roll of 0.

Tell me your thoughts on this, Criticism is welcome.

Harrowdroth.

PS: I think a Dagger with the throwing special property, has a Range of +5 feet.

I'm not sure where you found that, but I'm thinking it was:

1) A typo

OR

2) Maybe the character/NPC that has those daggers usually used them as ranged (throwing) weapons, so that's how they were described.

As for Harrowdroth's throwing dagger idea, I'd use the hand axe and throwing axe as a model if I were to re-create the dagger/throwing dagger. Basically put, they both have the same d6 damage die, but the handaxe cannot be thrown and has a x3 critical while the throwing axe CAN be thrown (duh  ) and only has a x2 critical.

Using this, you could re-create the dagger and throwing dagger as seperate weapons. The dagger would lose its range increment, becoming "non-throwing" but retain its d4 damage die and the 19-20/x2 critical. The throwing dagger, however, would gain the 10ft range increment, do d4 damage but only score a threat on a 20/x2.

In a way I'm actually thinking they SHOULD have done this from the start since they split the hand axe up, making it a seperate weapon than a throwing axe, they probably should have done the same thing with the dagger. OR MAYBE keep the dagger as is and then COMBINE the hand axe and throwing axe into one: d6 damage, x3 critical, 10' range increment. That's what I'D like to see.
