I'm thinking that it's like spiked chain except it's one-handed. The price would go up as well. I want help on pricing and rarety maybe new abilitys as well but I really want to keep these abilitys.

So what you're asking for is a spiked chain with the same abilities as a normal spiked chain, possibly a few more, and one-handedness  Tell me I'm misinterpreting this. I'm not one to argue that the spiked chain is overpowered, but this certainly would be.

I'd say it's an artifact, and one handed. You could mkae trip and disarm attacks, and garrote people with it from a hanging position. Good luck trying to get one. As for rarity, I'd say priceless, since theres just one.

realisticly though, just settle for a normal spiked chain. Doesn't it kick enough ass already?

would it do less damage than a normal spiked chain?

Have you checked out the Kusari-Gama from the DMG? It's like the spiked chain, except even less realistic, and even more reviled.

But, hey, people throw fireballs, so it is perfectly realistic to swing around a kama by a ten foot chain and trip people with it.

Are you saying the kusari-gama is not real? or D&D doesnt represent it correctly? because as far as i know kusari-gamas actually existed whereas i've never heard of a spiked chain except in D&D, oh and the new prince of persia game.

You don't throw the kama end of a kusari-gama, you throw the weight at the end of the chain. Behold: Kusari-Gama As much as I hate to cite a MtG card as proof, my little brother has homework and I need the vacate the computer ASAP. You can see the figure holding the kama end, and swinging the weight end. I've never seen the stats for it, but I would imagine the weight would only deal subdual damage, like a bola. The lethal, slashing damage could only be deal if the target was next to you.

Well, you can take this as you will, but in the weapon points system I'm working on, you could get an exotic 1H weapon with 5' and 10' reach, tripping, disarming, and finessable if you were willing to accept 1d4 /x2 damage.

That's assuming you allow 1H reach weapons at the same point cost as 2H reach weapons, which WOTC has not, to my knowledge ever done (except with the kusuri-gama, as noted. And the whip, but that's kind of special.)

No, I'm saying that D&D represents them poorly. I know they are real, but the way that the DMG suggests they are used is ludicrous.

I know how you use it. But, if you take a look at that picture, you might notice that that kusari-gama is being used in two hands. It is a two-handed weapon, despite its generally small size, and simply cannot be effectively used with a single hand.

D&D kusari-gamas are one-handed slashing, 10' reach weapons. They always do slashing damage, and they have ten foot reach. This means that the kama end has to somehow be chucked around like a pair of blody swordchucks.

And that fact that you can use two kusari-gamas is just worse. And the fact that they can be used with the dervish PrC is even worse.

Let me guess, they're finessable too?

Of course. I just checked them, and I was mistaken; they're not one-handed, they are light. Basically, they game designers swapped out the ability to be finessed by decreasing damage and size.
