this is kinda a n00b question I know but, what is the hierarchy of over coming damage reduction? does an enhancement bonus (ex: +1 longsword) overcome the 10/silver DR of a lycanthrope? Does x/magic beat the +x enhancement bonus?

Is there a list somewhere of this hierarchy, the DR description in the DMG helped some but left the question of exactly what beats what unclear. Thanks for your help

It is not a hierarchy. It is seperate.
Weapons must be silver to overcome DR/Silver.
Weapons must be magical to overcome DR/Magic.

In 3.5? There isn't one.

A silver weapon bypasses DR/silver and nothing else. A +1 weapon bypasses DR/magic and nothing else. If you want to bypass multiple types of DR, you need a weapon with multiple properties. So to get through DR/magic and lawful and adamantine, you would need at the very least a +1 axiomatic adamantine weapon.

The sole exception to this is that a weapon that bypasses DR/epic will also bypass DR/magic, because in order to have an enhancement bonus of +6 or greater, you have to also have an enhancement bonus of +1 or greater.

Do note that if you're seeing a number after the slash (DR 15/+3), you're looking at 3.0 damage reduction, to which this post doesn't really apply.
