| oldsage09-06-04, 09:06 AM | Is there any list of all Damage types (sonic, fire, bludgeoning, slashing etc')? Thanks in advance... |
| Silverglass09-06-04, 10:15 AM | There isn't a single list as such. Weapons have a single damage type: Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing. Then there are the element types (acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic). Also there is Force damage (magic missile. Mage's Sword). Damage Reduction takes into account the weapon damage types as above (but not the element types as elemental damage bypasses DR), weapon materials (silver, cold iron, adamantine), magic (magic or epic) and also alignments (good, evil, lawful, chaotic). This covers the ones encountered normally but with DR there is nothing that rules out a new creature with a new material type e.g. DR 5/Gold. |
| shadowflamedancer09-06-04, 02:32 PM | As the previous poster noted, their is no such list. however their are a few other types of damage. Aligned: Holy, and Unholy. While I don't recall ever seeing Law or Chaos damage, it is reasonable to assume it exists. I belive it could be argued that Positive(like cure spells) and Negative(Slay Living anyone?) energy could also fall under this catagory. Non-Specific: Their are a certain few rare spells that deal Non-Specific(or Non-Elemental is your a Flare/Ultima/Final Fantasy kind of guy) damage. This mean you could cast it at a creature who had Fire, Acid, Cold, Sonic, and Electricity Immunity, and wasn't harmed by force effects, and it would still hurt them. EDIT: So the list so far is: Physical: Slashing, Peircing, Bludgeoning Energy: Fire, Cold, Acid, Sonic, Electricity, Positive, Negative Aligned: Holy, Unholy, Archaic, Axiomatic Force Effects: Force Unamed: Non-Specific Energy Types |
